I hope the Pacers are better at assessing the decline of yesterday’s stars. I’m sure it’s tough to pass up aging stars however you have to get them at a very discounted salary.

I’d hope that Wall/Westbrook would be viewed as bad contracts to which we could net assets for taking on. Hayward should be viewed somewhat similarly, but despite his health, he’s still a pretty good player and impacts winning in a very positive manner.

It’s really weird how Hayward at times this year did fit well and then later didn’t seem to fit in Charlotte.

I don’t think it’s the scheme. It appeared the other players became used to playing without him during his injury periods, and he couldn’t fit back in late season. I did see him do good things early season but his injuries just keep him out so long.

Dallas gets their Center a lot cheaper than getting Myles. Wow seems like a lopsided deal unless Houston’s all in on Sengun and didn’t want to pay Wood. Not sure if Houston’s interested in keeping any of these players ??

This is about Wood’s value. He still plays selfishly, and he had to be sent home last year midseason, so there’s other value issues to him.

For Houston, they’ll clear a couple million off the cap, and use 26 to try and trade up with their 17. Wood wasn’t a long term fit for them, and was an issue in their locker room they’d rather be without.

I would bet they waive Burke and Chriss and keep Boban for the locker room leadership and to help steady Sengun/Garuba. Sterling Brown may be 50/50 of keep/waive.

First Denver clearing cap room and getting another draft pick and I think Houston was the winner getting another draft pick by moving a poor defensive player who doesn’t fit their youth movement. Moves starting to happen. Hopeful that the Pacers get offers they want.

Denver is paying A heavy price there, too. It just won’t come due until 2027, but they’re likely giving up a lightly, if not at all, protected first. They did well to get some trade pieces in 2nds, too, though, as they were almost out of them.

Sounds like unlimited practice time for the two way guys with the big league time and a 50 game limit. It used to be (pre covid) a 50 DAY limit, which was always weird.

Wall bought out; to sign with LA Clippers per Woj

John Wall set to join LA Clippers after reaching buyout with Houston Rockets, sources say

After agreeing to a buyout with the Houston Rockets, guard John Wall plans to sign a free-agent deal with the LA Clippers, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Wall, who was due $47.4 million from the Rockets after exercising the player option for the final year of his contract, agreed to take $6.5 million less to become a free agent, a source told ESPN. That is roughly the amount of the taxpayer midlevel exception, which Wall could receive once he is able to negotiate a deal with the Clippers.

When looking at the summer league rosters I noticed the 2 Purdue guys got invites.

Sasha Stefanovic is with Spurs
Trevion Williams is with Celtics
The Hoosier star isn’t with anyone yet which doesn’t surprise me according to my brother (a Hoosier fan) as he thought the player had an inflated ego.

Trayce Jackson-Davis? He withdrew from the draft and returned to IU. He tested positive for Covid the day before the draft combine and withdrew as he was going to miss essentially all his chances to try and rove up the draft board.

Thanks I had not heard. I used to be a Hoosier fan and follow closer but have lost interest since Knight left.

Better start watching again. Woodson is going to do some good work. Recruiting is already on the upswing.

Probably everyone knows but just in case they didn't, Trayce is Dale Davis' son.

Yeah, if it's sheer quantity of 1sts, NY is in possession of an abundance, for once. And a lot of expiring filler that isn't ugly. Like, Derrick Rose for a year and 4 1sts wouldn't be terrible for the Knicks. And if it allows them to still add Brunson, keep Barrett, not have to dump Randle, and still have all their youth in Quickley, Toppin, etc? Probably not a terrible idea.
