I'm with you. there are so many guys I'd be happy with but I'm not on an unathletic shooter. is there a Plumlee out there this year?

I have a feeling we will be looking to buy an early to mid 2nd round slot - where all the ones considered first rounders are pooling.

Pritchard said he liked having the 18 because he thought there were 18 players in the first three tiers. if true, the high second is at least the 4th if not 5th tier.

did you mean "[once] considered first rounders?" I'd have to ask "considered by whom?" I have a problem with pundits who rank drafts by how the picks fit their projection instead of evaluating the projections based upon the actual picks. after the NFL draft I read a complete analysis comparing picks to a consensus mock which I thought was completely backwards. there should be a reason a player falls, and I'd only consider him a bargain if I knew the reason didn't apply to our situation.

the Fever showed the merits of taking a Tamika Catchings who was a year away. with Vic a question mark, this could be a very good year to take a player who is rehabbing an injury.

nbadraft.net says we should draft a rebounder. I'm okay with that if he is a 3 or a combo 3/4. I say that assuming that Alize is a 4 and Leaf is a 4/5.

Yeah. Seems like rebounding numbers have always been slow, but with our slower pace, we're going to be lower on the numbers no matter what.

Wouldn't "percent of available rebounds" be a better way to measure a team's rebounding? Rather than measuring by rebounds per game or some such?

Or course, I guess it comes down to a team's +/- in rebounding.

ESPN's special had us taking Kevin Porter. I'm ok with that but I like a bunch of guys they had going later. I could be on team trade down.

Good question. The classification of the prospects in tiers varies greatly from one analysts to another and it is always interesting to see how their rationale varies with each other too. I am no analyst, just a huge fan of the whole draft process and I have my personal big board which I compare to the others. This helps me see / validate my observation on players. Some talents are obvious, most are not and the researches are basically for the latter and that's the fun part.

I was referring to the prospects that were once first rounders on the various mock draft sites and player projections I have been following as early as last year and the variation among them was overly crazy. Now, they are kind of nearing a consensus on most picks and situational analyses. I agree with you on some analysts that are bias on their projections, but I think the same can be applied to everyone else as they could have favorite / dream situations too. I guess people unconsciously go for the "ideal" picks most of the time.

Here are the names in the Green Room list. There are more than 18 names here, so if the Association has it right there's a high probability that our pick is in this tweet.

Off topic a bit, and not an draft guy, at least for a year or more, if ever, but anyone else getting the impression that Jerome Hunter of IU is battling DVT in his legs? Also, the surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, a world renown heart and cardiovascular hospital? Would make the most sense to have a lower leg "condition" take this long and still be very iffy in terms of him being able to play next season? And also attempting to protect Hunter's possible future, as we've seen the questions around Ingram with LA? Hate to rush to judgement, but it's the only thing making sense.

From Kravitz’s new article “In fact, Ryan Carr, the team’s director of player personnel, said Monday he can’t imagine the Pacers will get any kind of significant difference-maker – assuming they retain the pick, which is no sure thing.”

the Kravitz article is good. I read Carr's comment as meaning we aren't going to get anyone good enough to earn big minutes as a rookie. think Holiday. of course, everything could change if free agency goes poorly and we're starting over at 3 and 4.

The Kravitz article has a few things in it, but is definitely low on understanding of the cap and the market. Kravitz is definitely a guy that watches basketball, but doesn't know how the NBA works. At least, that's my impression of it.

Yeah. Doyle's strength is tugging at the heartstrings and finding the much smaller, unknown, story. His summer writing, where he basically drives around Indiana and finds small town stories, are some of the best stuff he does all year.
