Game Thread 10/31: Pacers vs. Kings

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:37 pm

On paper, the Kings are a far less intimidating opponent. Sacramento has dropped four straight contests after a 27-point loss in Washington on Sunday.

But that doesn't mean the Pacers can take the Kings lightly. Sacramento has plenty of young talent, including guards De'Aaron Fox (the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft) and Buddy Hield (the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft). The Kings also added some veteran talent in free agency, including former Pacers guard George Hill and Marion native Zach Randolph.

I hope Domas is feeling well enough to play. Otherwise we are really really thing in the front court.

Judging from what his Dad just said to a Lithuanian journalist, Domas is probably going to miss this game. But who knows, maybe he spoke with Domas a day ago when he was feeling really bad, and now Domas is feeling much better?

Can't take anything for granted this year, but this is a winnable game after a day of rest, at home, against Sacto. Keep up the energy and teamwork, and shooting 70% always helps, lol. Cleveland might be vulnerable, but I'm expecting to lose that one. Then Philly is definitely a game we can win, so this could be a very good week for us.

But gotta stay focused on GHill and the Kings tonight! Wish we had Myles back, and I hope Sabonis is feeling well. Maybe we'll get to see more Leaf and Ike tonight.

I never expected we'd have a chance to be over .500 this far into the season.

Among all players who average more than 10 rebounds a game and played more than 1 game, Domas is 1st in CONTESTED REB% - meaning he fought for most of his rebounds, he's not just grabbing a bunch of freebies like Giannis or Anthony Davis. :) I think that's a pretty awesome stat, tells you who the real rebounders are.

What a bruiser. He is probably one of the most annoying guys to play against.
No wonder he made a sandwich out of Poeltl while in college.

Also there is the fact that Domas is 1st and Enes is 3rd on that list. Also count in Steven Adams and it's easier to understand why OKC was grabbing more than 30% of available offensive rebounds last year.

Domas was nowhere near this good last year actually but maybe it was because the system was based on Russ and Enes collecting the rebounds primarily.

Adams is an elite contested rebounder too! The only reason he's not listed in that image is because he's averaging below 10 rpg. However, his contested REB% is over 60%.

For the time being Bojan is still better until Bogdan adjusts to the NBA. But overall, Bogdan is the superior talent.

Hope he will prove me wrong but knowing how inconsistent he can be, tonight it should be his trash day.

Even if he's not as efficient shooting the ball, he'll still contribute in ball movement, rebounding and defense.
