Game Thread 01/24: Pacers vs. Suns

Funny what a difference a game can make.
After losing two straight games, the Pacers seemed on their way to dropping a third as they travelled to San Antonio to face the Spurs. But Indiana surprised, pulling out a victory to complete a season sweep of San Antonio and cap its five-game road trip with a 3-2 record.
Now the Pacers (25-22) return home to face a Suns (17-30) team that they dominated just 10 days earlier in a 120-97 victory.
Indiana was without starting center Myles Turner for the duration of the road trip, and his absence was felt on defense. Over the course of the five games, Indiana averaged just 2.4 blocks per game, the lowest figure in the NBA in that span.
But even without the blocks, the Pacers' team defense remained strong on the trip, allowing just 99.7 points per 100 possessions, the fifth best mark in the league.

Pacers need to stay focused. Theoretically, it's a sure win, but...
And Pacers, even if they will have no problems with Suns, need to practice their nasty defense. Against Suns it might be not needed, but against other, good teams, or being behind - efficient D is extremely valuable.

Tonight is a scary game IMO. I think the Suns are one of the scary bad teams because they have dudes that can light it up. Add in that we thumped them at their place and a big game coming up on Friday and a lot of recipes to overlook someone are there. Not saying it will happen but just a scary spot against a team that Indy is a lot better than.

This game is an opportunity for us to get our confidence back. See some shots go through the rim against a bad defense (that doesn't even try sometimes, really) could go a long way into bringing back Lance's and Bojan's shots.

plus, the first game back after a road trip tends to be tough. win tonight though and in Cleveland Friday, and the race for 3rd will tighten.

Guaranteed win night!!! My Great Nephew Caleb is gonna be in attendance tonight with his Dad, I gave them tickets as a Christmas gifts, so they have to win this one.

Looks like Sabonis will start, I'd expect Myles to dress but may not play. I'd have him as the emergency center in case of injury or foul trouble, but give him this one off since we should be able to beat these guys, and it's Guaranteed win night anyhow!

Let's hope Turner is good to go on Friday, it would be nice to get a sweep of the Cavs.

Wait, what? You're telling me they're rolling out Joe Young over Corey Joseph?
EDIT: wow, you're right. I just checked the twitter and for god knows what reason Joe Young is, in fact, starting.

As Quinn Buckner pointed out, I really don't like this Joe Young start in light of the fact that Myles isn't there to protect the rim.

Without DC a little sloppy start, but now everything looks like clicking again.
