Pacers playing slower?

This one's a few days old, but I just got around to reading it. Is this a bad thing? Is it McMillan settling into his comfort zone, and is actually good?

In the spirit of Groundhog’s Day, this trend is an oldie but goodie- a recurring theme from Nate McMillan that we’ve all seen before: the Pacers are playing really slow.

Can you guess where they ranked in January? 29th. Only the Spurs are playing slower than the Pacers right now. In December, they were 20th. Slowly but surely, they’ve surely gotten slow (say that five times fast) as the season has gone on.

This was a commonly noted point of contention when McMillan took over the head coaching job last year. Sure, his shtick worked in the mid-2000s, but an effective modern offense can’t run at a snail-like pace, right? It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks, though, and McMillan’s team finished 18th in pace last year.

I think its a bad thing.

However, I feel like we are not shooting as well as we were earlier in the season and that could be a factor.

Not too sure whether it's good or bad.

On one hand, this team thrives on getting deflections and steals and converting them into quick buckets.

On the other hand, I like it a lot when I see Domas and Thad Young, going to work in the paint. Until the team can shoot well enough to reliably beat the opponent from the 3pt line, I'm happy to see them continue with that

I think it's a reflection of the Pacers playing bigger. Will need to check the lineup data.

We need to get into our offence faster, no doubt about that.

It may also be an accumulation effect as we tire from a fast start to the season.

Vic's 5 game absence may have been a factor. not going to check though.

We ranked 29th in pace in January. We went 10-5 in January. It's not a bad thing if we are winning.

When CJ, Al, and Lance are in the game, the pace seems to get way too slow. Lance holds the ball way too long 90% of the time.
