I really like this to add some depth for the playoff push. Gives us another veteran big man.

Booker's solid. On the other hand, I didn't really think we need another big.

How many ex-nets do we have now? Thad, Bojan, now Booker too?

I think it allows them to cut Thad's minutes a bit. Gives us more flexibility in the frontcourt should teams go small. Also, in foul trouble situations gives us a lot more depth. Solid depth move IMO.

Hard to not like this even if it seems a bit odd of a fit. His hustle should be a nice culture fit though and we definitely could have used some big man depth like this at a few points this season so it may pay off.

who do we cut? the 10-day, wait until it ends or Poythress?

gives us some summer flexibility if Thad prices himself out of our range.

They are releasing McKinney-Jones.

Presumably it's after the 10-day contract of Jones ends, or we could just cut Jones.

I guess we just like Booker, and yeah he should fit the culture of the team.

I do think this means Al Jeff will be seeing DNP - CD for the rest of the season though.

I think we're cutting Al Jefferson, straight up, to take a lot of his money off the books.

After all that publicity about keeping him beyond the trade deadline?

I've got real serious doubts about that.

Besides, that wouldn't take money off the books (no effect on salary cap, the team would still have to pay him) for this year, and next year his gtd is low. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

his salary is fully guaranteed for this year and we're well below the luxury tax so there is no reason to cut him unless it is to bring in someone better. I wouldn't take the chemistry risk. now what we do this summer when we can reduce his cost to 4mm by waiving him is another matter.

Awesome addition, guys :D

We can really use his rebounding and I have always liked his demeanor.

Jefferson and Sabonis together on the court was hurting us in multiples ways.

What? Not a chance.

They’ve spoken previously about his locker room presence and regardless his salary is guaranteed. So if we cut him, we still have to pay him and we’ve gained nothing. No such thing as taking his money “off the books”.

I like this signing. Though player, will add some toughness to the mentality.

I prefer him over Al as well. GRIII and Booker are good additions late in the season, maybe we can give guys like Oladipo, Bojan and Thad some rest before the playoffs.

That makes the most sense. I like Booker if he gets minutes he's solid. This is adding depth, it's pretty clear that Leaf can't really play minutes. So Booker will be 3rd string big and will be there in case of foul trouble and or injuries.

Nice. Trevor Booker is a good rebounder and adds depth to the team. Welcome to the Pacers, Trevor :)

on TV halftime they said 10 day expires Saturday. Booker has to clear waivers so timing should work.

Sent from my phone.

Should have specified for next season, when only part of his salary is guaranteed
