EVEN IF they were the same age (Turner is much younger) and on the same contract (Otto is far more expensive) I would not take the trade straight up. Too many guys add what Porter does. To be giving up Turner for Porter as it stands would be absolutely ridiculous and there's not a chance KP would even consider it. Doesn't fit what he's trying to build and nothing that he's done to this point makes it seem that he's willing to make a roster move like this.
Oladipo
Is the man that carries the Pacers. Next year he will likely start thinking about contending, if not already.
Excuses like he is only 22 years hold, will hold less value next season because the clock is ticking for Oladipo, who is ready to contend.
Turner has a lot to improve. If he does, great. If he doesn't, the Pacers have an even younger center, locked in for 1 more year.
Shotblocking and rim protection is nice, but overall defense is what matters. Sabonis defense is good enough for me with exceptions against certain players.
We lost all 6 games without Oladipo, so that doesn't exactly scream Turner as future second option to me. PG knows a thing or two too about how much Turner adds. He played with him, saw his potential and wanted out.
Was Paul wrong about Myles his limited potential? Possibly, but the fact remains he didn't see enough potential to stick around.
I don't see the great defensive potential either to be honest. Nor offensively besides long range shooting.
Is Porter one of a kind? No, but he has few weaknesses to his game and excels in some area's. He plays hard and is a very good shooter. Knowing the Pacers have Sabonis and Turner is no Towns are close to it, it can turn out to become a bad trade, but never a terrible trade, because it makes some sense to consider it. The Harden trade made sense, the Oladipo/Sabonis trade made sense for the Thunder.
I remember I was getting the same reactions when I tried to trade Hibbert for Gobert or Valanciunas (and others I wish to forget

) or Granger for Klay/Iggy/Millsap (and others I would like to forget

) so I will do my best to absorb all the reasons you have written down why Turner for Porter is a bad trade and forget the less constructive arguments made

One of the things I learned here is that it only takes a few months to completely change the perceived winner of a trade.
The Wizards have a 21-19 0.525 record when John Wall didn't play and Otto was second option of their team.
The Wizards now have 0.538 record. As far as I'm concerned that is a positive sign for the impact Porter has.
Otto Porter is a very good player with some very good stats, so he is much more than the guy losing his opponent completely out of sight as shown in shaqtin. If anything, it showed how serious he was taking his job. I like players like that and I will continue to defend them if I believe they don't get the respect they deserve.
