14th pick for Sabonis?

Post#1 » by Mich3006 » Tue May 15, 2018 12:56 pm

Would you accept this offer from the Nuggets?

I think Sabonis is a key player but with Turner, Leaf, Young and Anigbogu, the Pacers frontcourt is solid.

Not a chance. You'd be lucky to find a Sabonis quality player at 14. Plus with Jokic and Milsap and Lyles I'm not sure why Denver would want to do this. Plus you mentioned Leaf and Anigbogu as solid? I think Leaf could take a step forward but I would not call either of those guys solid at the moment.

Lyles and 14 I’d consider. We could then get a shot at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who I truly believe would be a perfect fit next to Oladipo.

Nope. Nowhere close, for me. Leaf and Anigbogu are complete question marks, and Thad isn’t a guarantee to return. All of a sudden, you realize that at two pre,out positions, you only have Myles Turner, and now just the 14 and 23 to fill those spots.

It strikes me as classic overvaluing of picks over existing players. In only his 2nd season, first one where he’s been coached up in his actual style of play, he was a solid contributor already. He’s got size, passing, and a tough nose. Rebounding and defense will continue to get better. He’s already what you dream a 14pick can turn into in his prime. And he’s still got a ton of room to grow.

No.

Sabonis is virtually untouchable in my book. He's very good and he is buddies with Vic.

The move that I would be looking at would be moving our 1st round pick and taking on salary (and possibly Collison, Bogie and/or Jefferson) for an established young player.

Wouldn’t expect Denver to be in the market for Sabonis. Don’t they already have their center and like 6 pf’s.

Bird in the hand. He's 21, averaged 11 & 7 (almost 12 & 8) on 51% shooting in 24 mpg.

The 14th pick doesn’t get it done for me. Value can get cleaned with any number of young assets Denver controls. Generally speaking it doesn’t make sense to dilute talent. Two dimes and a nickel don’t get you a quarter in the nba.

Sure, I have always wanted to draft the next Papagiannis.

Who needs a good player drafted at #11 when you can draft the unknown player at #14?

Sabonis might be our second best player. He is a killer who is proven dangerous in the post season. I'd rather find a defender shot/blocker to pair with Sabonis. Think Donkey or Rodman type. Donkey/Sabonis > Turner/Leaf. You can't have too many bigs unless you can't afford them.

A real chance I'd quit the Pacers if they moved on from Domas so quick. As someone else said, he's virtually untouchable in my books.

I'd trade Myles twice before I listened to an offer for Sabonis. His ceiling is very high.

Domas >>>> than the 14th. At 22 y.o. the sky's the limit for him.

I started a thread on the trade board about Faried. Denver is anxious to move his contract even though it only has a year left and Woj has suggested the 14th pick is in play. now I'm not suggesting Sabonis or any other of our top 8 should be moved, but if the right guy is there at 14, I'd be dialing Denver.

I'd be dialing Denver at this very moment if 14 is available as bait to take Faried. He's due for a career revival, what better place to do it than with the franchise with the greatest amount of most improved player awards?

Also, if we're talking fit, he seems to be a better version of Trevor Booker, who I was a big fan of at the end of last season.

Faried can dunk, and that’s the entirety of his offensive game. He’s not at all a fit in the current NBA. Hes still a rebounder, but nothing else. Booker is more usable overall.

And I rang the bell for a Faried for years on this forum, too!
