(Preseason) Game Thread 10/04: Pacers vs. Rockets

I am excited for this to get underway. I expect to be more and more active on this board as things really get going. My biggest thing is to see Evans in action. I never really paid much attention to him before, so I'm really looking forward to getting a feel for his game.
It's hard to believe, but the Pacers will be in action on Thursday night, tipping off the 2018-19 preseason in Houston against the Rockets. In a scheduling quirk, Indiana's entire preseason schedule will take place on the road, with games every other day between Oct. 4 and 10.
Thursday's game will offer Pacers fans the first glimpse of free agent signings Tyreke Evans, Doug McDermott, and Kyle O'Quinn, as well as draft picks Aaron Holiday and Alize Johnson. Evans — who averaged 19.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists last season for Memphis — and McDermott — a career 40.3 percent 3-point shooter — will definitely be a part of Indiana's rotation. O'Quinn, a physical presence who sets hard screens and crashes the boards, could play a large role as well.
The Blue & Gold enter the preseason relatively healthy, but veteran forward Thaddeus Young has missed most of training camp with a minor foot injury. Young likely will miss Thursday's exhibition against the Rockets, creating an opportunity for second-year forward TJ Leaf to slide into a starting role and see increased minutes. Leaf, the 18th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, played sparingly as a rookie but is trying to earn a spot in the rotation backing up Young this year (O'Quinn is his main competition).

Not seeing this in the TV listings. Is it not on FSMW or FSIndiana?

I'm recording it as I expect to watch the Colts game to the bitter end even if it is a blow-out.

Spent the evening flipping back and forth. Seemed like Sumner was doing something impressive whenever I was watching. Box score kinda confirmed that. I'll be anxious to see if Leaf can duplicate his work last night too.
While his stat line wasn't impressive I thought Turner looked springer.

Oh, I think he absolutely gets elevated at some point. My issue was with the thanksgiving prediction. That would mean he would start the season at the nba, and never go to Ft Wayne as Thanksgiving is essentially 45 days from the start of the season. I think it’s closer to
The all star break or later in the year.

Yeah,Turner looked more agressive,attacked the rim when he had the opening.He is very quick for his size and he has to use that.He was posting up a bit more aswell.

Oh, I can see that too. I think it somewhat depends upon Holiday. I wouldn't send them both to Fort Wayne at the same time unless they think Reke (or maybe even Vic) is enough of a point guard to be the 3rd option in case of foul trouble. One exhibition game is hardly enough to judge whether Holiday needs to red shirt more than Sumner.

Everyone i thought played pretty well for you guys aside from Collision who seemed like he was forcing all game trying to prove him himself and then Dougy just looked so out of rhythm all game shot was off and pretty flat defencively i thought he was okay but Its gonna take Doug a little while to get adjusted and develop some chemistry he'll be alright.
