Game Thread 10/19: Pacers vs. Bucks

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Fri Oct 19, 2018 9:19 am

The Indiana Pacers opened the season with a convincing victory and look to add another win when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. The Pacers rolled to a 111-83 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday for the franchise's largest opening-night winning margin since joining the NBA for the 1976-77 season.

The 28-point victory included an astounding 57-28 rebounding edge and high defensive intensity that limited Memphis to 29.8 percent shooting from the field. "I thought every guy that went out on the floor played hard," Indiana coach Nate McMillan told reporters. "The intensity didn't drop off on the defensive end of the floor. I just really liked our effort and our execution, playing the game together." Milwaukee opened up with a 113-112 victory over the Charlotte Hornets but nearly let a 17-point third-quarter lead get away before escaping in coach Mike Budenholzer's first game as coach. "Love the way we started the game, loved the way we played a lot in the first half, just got to find a way to do that for 48 minutes," Budenholzer told reporters.

Bucks fan, wishing health and success for both teams.

I consider this game a must win for us (our home court, the opponent that we will be probably battling for the 4th seed this year). I also consider this game to be very difficult for us. Since Giannis was drafted the Pacers are 13-7 in head to head match-ups. They are also 50% (9-9) against Buds former team.

Coming into the game, our best player was sloppy in the opener, and apparently he was also suffering from a cold. What we saw from the first half though was pretty good, and indicative of the offense Bud wants the team to have. The Pacers are in a strong position coming to their second game after a very convincing victory, and I think this is going to be a close battle, with the game going either way.

May the best team win, cheers..C:

Going to be a tough one tonight. Milwaukee has a ton of talent. Like catching them early as they are still learning Bud's system. Wish we weren't there for the opening of the new arena. Going to be a lot of energy in the building tonight. Hopefully a fast start and we can keep the crowd at bay. Need to take better care of the ball than Wednesday night.

I like the Bucks, they're probably my 3rd favorite team after the Raptors and the Pacers, but nobody on the Bucks team scares me except for Giannis. He's a big problem. Hopefully we can contain him somewhat.

Big game. Trying to defend Giannis will be key, hopefully Thad is up to the task. Need Sabonis and Myles to dominate the boards again, I think.

I was never a Bucks fan particularly, and I've honestly been waiting to see some team success instead of just hype for the Greek Freak. I have, however, always been a big Budenholzer fan, so maybe we will see some improvement in the win column for the Bucks this year. Just...hopefully not against the Pacers lol.

And the hype around GA is out of control. I've be very happy to have the guy but the way the media fawns over him is down right disgusting.

Let's put a butt whooping on these guys like we did last year like we did in the 1st game against the Grizz.

The hype is real. The guy plays all 5 positions on the court. Legitimately. And last year he put up 27/10/5/1.5/1.5 on 53/31/76 shooting and a +9.5 in on-off.

He’s a damn specimen in terms of basketball. If the guy develops a more reliable 3, he’d easily be the most dangerous player on the court right now.

Also, if you’re not sold on Giannis after watching this game, I don’t know what you’re wAtching.

I don't care if the hype around GA is justified or not he's a great player but it's still annoying to see grown men acting like 12 yr old girls at a Justin Beeber concert.

Dude's a monster. It's demoralizing how unstoppable he looks at times.

we looked good for maybe 3 minutes. Bucks are in the home court fight. it would be big to get them on their court but it wouldn't be terrible not to ... as long as we get a split out of the back to back pair.

Turnovers, not getting defensive rebounds, and settling for mid range jumpers are killing us.

Making 2 three pointers through 3 quarters is inexcusable. You’re never going to win an NBA game in 2018 like that. Their entire game plan was to let us have these **** ass mid range shots early in the shot clock and we’re perfectly content to take them.

Bogie looked like hot garbage, Turner had better figure out what he wants to do.

We go from looking like a great team to looking like garbage.
