Pacers 10/27: Pacers vs. Cavs

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Sat Oct 27, 2018 2:16 pm

The meeting will be the 205th regular season game between the two teams. The Indiana Pacers are 38-60 in Cleveland dating back to 1976.

The Cavaliers on the road used to be one of the more terrifying statements in the league. Without LeBron James in the picture, this went from being a perennial playoff preview to a game you would expect to win. The Cavaliers have started the season 0-3, dropping games to the Raptors, Wolves, and Hawks. Each of the games was competitive throughout before the Cavs just simply ran out of gas. Kevin Love remains the only star on the team but has started somewhat of a statistical renaissance. He is currently averaging a double-double, albeit very early in the season. There’s not enough transitional game on the roster to keep up with the Pacers and it should be an evening for the offense to flourish.

Prediction: Pacers 110 Cavs 101

And we all probably know about this by now.

Cavs are BAD, even with Love playing. This should be nothing less than a W.

Trap game against an 0-5 team that might be getting desperate for win number one.

Turner cant get a rebound to save his life. Allowed like 6 2nd chance points in first.

Good to get the win.

Cleveland always kill us on the glass. We need to beat them in this area next time.

Shame that Mcmillan isn't even trying to play Turner and Sabonis together. Pritchard should have a word with him about this.

did we get Lue fired?

actually I think LeBron no longer being the defacto gm did him in.

Gilbert’s continues mismanagement is getting everybody fired. Constantly.

Good to get a win, but that was kind of a frustrating game.

- We couldn't get a board to save our lives, though tbf TT/Nance is a bad matchup for boards for our bigs
- CoJo continues to overdribble; it's fine when he's making his shots, but this is getting to be an annoyance for me personally
- Guys are still hesitating a bit too much, which is odd given that the majority of the team played together last year
- Too many lazy passes
- Ball movement is getting better, but we're missing a lot of open guys (I don't think it's due to selfishness, but it's a noticeable trend)

Every team has its issues its ironing out so I'm not overly concerned, but those are some worrying trends that have come up consistently through 6 games now.

I also expected the team to look less disjointed than they have, given that they should theoretically be doing mostly all the things they did last year while other players on other teams are getting to know new coaches, new teammates, and such.

Yeah, the only reason I can really think of for it is that guys are being asked to do something different, which isn't all that unexpected. Myles is being asked to bang in the post a bit more/rebound more; Vic is being asked to facilitate and shoot more threes to help his body; Collison is being asked to be more of a spot up shooter; etc.

Would kinda make sense given that the three most consistent guys thus far (Bogie, Thad, and Sabonis) seem to have largely the same role as last year.
