Game Thread 10/31: Pacers vs. Knicks

The Knicks (2-5) — who have started their season with a new head coach in David Fizdale and without their best player in Kristaps Porzingis (left knee) — have struggled to pick up wins out of the gate.

Despite winning their first game of the season against the Hawks, New York had endured a five-game losing streak before snapping it with a 115-96 win over the Nets on Monday night.

With Porzingis and their first-round draft pick Kevin Knox both missing due to injury, veteran Tim Hardaway Jr. has led the way on offense, leading the team with an impressive 24.4 points per game.

15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block in 7 minutes... 7/7 from the field. Such a shame he picked his 3rd foul there. Kanter had nothing vs him.

Sabonis is playing lights out but the Knicks can’t miss.

Calm down Domas, we're not ready for a new Knick killer, yet

Wasn't the prettiest, but a nice gutty win when the A game wasn't there. Domas was a stud. Vic was clutch at the end.

I love having guys who can come off the bench and produce. We are gonna have to pay Domas big money at some point.

It was important to get this one. It is important to try and get Friday as well. The schedule ramps up starting Saturday night.

For whatever reason, this team doesn't seem to be able to hit on all cylinders so far this season. Maybe the Spurs game being the outlier to that. I suppose getting the new guys integrated could still be a part of it. Sure hope they get it all together soon. They will need to.

I think there are a few reasons for this. Aside from a few in the Association that are rolling everyone has been a bit up and down. There is less time in the pre-season and training camp now a days. Also, I believe this to be the biggest reason why.... Whitey Herzog once said "I want to play all of the bad teams when they know they are bad." I know the Pacers weren't super clean on Wednesday, but I was really impressed with some of the young Knicks. I bet they are like playing a completely different team come December when they are 6-17.

P.S. I would throw the Grizzlies game in there as hitting on all cylinders. They are 4-2 and that was a beatdown.
