Fort Wayne Mad Ants

Post#1 » by pacers33granger » Sun Nov 11, 2018 2:18 am

Figure we might as well have a thread for the Mad Ants since we've got multiple guys down there this year.

Alize Johnson just had a 27/20 game with 12 offensive boards. And it's just his second game. In the first he put up 20/10. His rebounding could help a lot next year (or even now).

Sumner, Moore, Redd, and Ike all have had some nice games as well it appears.

Alize looks like he's going to have a future at NBA level. He seems to have some of those intangible qualities where he hates getting beaten and plays with high energy. Great to see he has started well in the G League.

I think he has a chance to be an absolute beast if he keeps working hard.

he needs a more reliable shot and the ability to drive to his left. but he offers a lot of toughness.

Alize, Sumner, and Moore all had great games last night. Alize with another double double (20/15) and Sumner with 35, though he did have 7 turnovers.

It's only 3 games, but Alize is averaging 22 and 15 on 66% and Sumner's averaging 23 on 62%. Along with Moore, Reed, and Ike it's nice to have some minor league guys to be excited about.

Also, if both Moore and Alize can become NBA players, it could be real interesting to have them as a tandem off the bench at the forward positions. Both have a nose for the ball and go all out. When both were in last night the Herd had a lot of trouble rebounding the ball.

is Alize playing 3 or 4 (or both) for the Ants?

I watched this game while doing some other things and hadn't watched the other 2 so I'm not 100% sure, but it seemed they had him mostly at the 4 from what I saw. His shot looks like it has progressed since summer league and he probably will be able to play the 3, but it seems his future is at the 4 anyways given his skill set.

I think he was a college 4. I was thinking his size is more of a pro 3 but maybe he's strong enough to be a 4. glad to hear his shooting is improving as that looked to be his weak spot.

It doesn't look like he will ever be a sharp shooter but respectable. I don't think he's missed a ft in 9 attempts either.

He's been pretty smart about picking his spots too and the majority of his shots seem to be coming at the basket.

His size should be alright against most modern 4s though.

Sumner got called up last minute so looks like he may see some big league minutes during this road trip. May also mean that Vic is still dealing with his knee.

Alize had another big game on the boards today with 21. Had 14 points but shot poorly. Before this game he was averaging 12.6 rpg over 5 games. Should be up to 14 per game now, good for the lead among all players. G league numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt but his rebounding has clearly translated.
