Game Thread 11/19: Pacers vs. Jazz

Oladipo's status is considered day-to-day entering Monday's meeting with the Jazz (8-8).
Utah finished last season with the NBA's best defense, but it has struggled to slow down opponents so far this season, allowing 107.5 points per 100 possessions (14th in the NBA).
Monday's game marks the final stop on Utah's five-game road trip in which they've gone 2-2, most recently defeating the Boston Celtics 98-86 at the TD Garden

this was going to be a tough game with Vic. it'll be a real test of our depth without him.

That was a great quarter, I'll take three more like it, please.

OK Bogie, I'll take one point off my "Trade Bogie meter", because I really liked how you sticked up for the team's rookie for being called on that bogus foul

Good half, Rubio started hitting some threes that kept the Jazz in it. Keep the foot on the pedal, or Mitchell is going to get them back in it.

And Leaf couldn't even get garbage minutes now
Does he really suck that much, or did he just looked at Nate the wrong way or something

Utah played Favor and Gobert which let us play Turner and Sabonis together. that cuts Leaf"s opportunities.

On the telecast, they said Holiday's parents were in town visiting and saw the last game plus this one. All I can say is, if this is how he plays when his folks are watching, maybe they should move to Indy?
Also, this is as good a place as any to say this. After the draft, I was disappointed with the selection of Holiday. NOT because of the player himself, but because of our history with small (short) guards. It hasn't always been pleasant.
But, I think I was wrong to worry in this case. Sure, he needs work on his defense, but how many rookies don't? And yes, he won't always light it up like the last two games, but for now he is playing darned well. The point is, I really like what he is bringing to this team, and think he will do nothing but improve as he gets his chances.
So, kudos to the Pacers front office for proving, once again, that they know a heck of a lot more about judging talent than I do! Here's hoping they continue to do that!

It wasn't just Leaf. O'Quinn also didn't get much run. I got the idea they want to try to give Domas and Myles as much chance to play together as they can. Plus, the guys on the floor were playing well enough they deserved the minutes. So, not so much a slight to the ones who didn't get minutes as it was a tip-of-the-cap to the guys who were playing.
You also have times when the coach looks at the clock as says "Oh, heck! This guy hasn't even been in yet." Sometimes a coach might not want to admit it, but they do "fall asleep" on guys time-to-time.

Man that is a helluva win. The Jazz are a damn good team. Super impressive that we won without Vic. I didn't think we could beat a good team without him on the floor. I was pleasantly surprised. Kudos to all the guys for stepping up!

Pretty sure we did not win a single game last year when Oladipo didn't play, so that makes this win even more sweet.
