Game Thread 01/06: Pacers vs. Raptors

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Sun Jan 6, 2019 12:02 pm

Failing to record a block for the first time this season while appearing somewhat tentative in his debut as a masked man, Myles Turner’s acclimation to his newest accessory may have just hit another snag. Per Fox Sports Indiana’s Jeremiah Johnson, the 22-year-old shot-blocker is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Raptors with right shoulder soreness.

If Turner isn’t good to go against Toronto, Kyle O’Quinn will have to step in at the back-up role. When last pressed into service in Orlando with Sabonis out with food poisoning, the bearded third-string center chipped in a double-double and finished plus-8 in 27 minutes of action.

As for the Raptors, Jonas Valanciunas continues to be out for Toronto, but early indicators are that Kawhi Leonard will be in the lineup for the second night of the back-to-back after playing tonight in Milwaukee.

Toronto beat Bucks last night. if we can win a tough road game tonight, the standings tighten up.

Our defense is AWFUL without Turner.

I know he's out there for his defense but Joseph is really a low iq offensive player.

Drum roll! Ladies and Gentlemen tonight's D-League reject who single handedly beat the Pacers by averaging 4 times his season average!

Spoiler:
Norman Powell!

How dare you. The man earned a 4 year 42 million extension that the Raptors definitely haven't been trying to trade for the last 2 years

I hate that guy, he can't throw a rock in the ocean most nights and every time he plays us he's all NBA.

There it is, I knew someone was missing tonight. Turner out was the game changer. Norm Powell was the difference maker tonight.
No Kawhi, JV still out and Lowry made his return.

Full game highlights.

I don't need to see that. I'd rather watch film of water buffalo humping.

We should win this game without Kawhi... but you cant win with only 4 3-points in hole game... and now its sure, Dipo doesnt deserve AS this year...

Norm was misused last season and fell out of the rotation of a very deep team.

Since returniing from his shoulder injury, he's been back to his form of 2 years ago when fans wanted him to replace Demar as the starting 2.

He defends 3 positions, has improved his 3 and his decision making and playmaking

Referring to him as a G league reject is just salty

That and letting a team shoot 52% from the floor is a really bad combo.

I've been saying this for a while now, but I don't want to see the ball in his hands on offense

He isn't good at setting his teammates up, he tends to over dribble, misses the open man, takes contested shots sometimes

I think the problem this game was with the 2nd unit?

The Raptors surged ahead late in the 2nd quarter when the starters were resting, it seemed

With Sabonis in the starting lineup, there is no reliable play maker in the 2nd unit, and no one in the 2nd unit is good at creating on their own either

Yup, I have no clue why he feels fadeaway mid range shots are a good idea and it's crazy to me that he fades when he's open. Holiday seems to get to the same spots in the mid range and he consistently goes straight up.

The problem is that, if Joseph doesn't have the ball in his hands, it's Tyreke...
