Something to remember as the season closes.

I know we have all been down about the team recently. The horrible western road trip, and the disappointing last month and all. But just remember, we are one game shy of matching last year's win total, and still have two games left. When Victor was injured, if someone would have said we can match last year's surprising record without having the team's best player for most of the season I think we would have all been happy about that. Yes, we wanted more, but this is not that bad overall.

and Sabonis was hurt on that road trip and Collison missed recently. with them we might have hit 50.

It's been a great season. The team has played above their talent level. You can't ask for anything more than that. Been a fun team to watch. Here's to hoping we can play more than a few games coming up.

I think more than a bit of the "dispair", if you will, is WHEN in the season the worse stretches have happened. Had the recent loses been parsed out more evenly over the course of the year, it would have been taken more in stride. It is just that coming when it has, with the playoffs looming and fighting for home-court, it gives us all a greater reason for concern.

the record after the all star break isn't good. mid-season changes can backfire. the Star has a story up about the collapse of our last good team which involved trading Granger who was a leader and acquiring Bynum who killed Hibbert's confidence. I've probably told this story before, but years ago the Leonards traded a young Alex English for an old George McGinnis thinking it would help a playoff push. team chemistry shattered and Leonard was soon out. I once had a conversation with Donnie Walsh in which I mentioned that I thought this trade ended the Leonards general mangership, and Donnie added that he had negotiated the trade for Denver.
so when the history of this season is written, do you think the Matthews signing will be viewed as a turning point for the worse? it certainly didn't help Tyreke's confidence.

No. I think it had a lot more to do with the fact that the schedule got a helluva lot tougher. Also, people were figuring out how to defend Bogey as a #1 option. But mainly the schedule got a lot tougher. It's not like Evans was killing it pre-Wes. Hibbert was an all-star that year and then it was like the Monstars from Space Jam took his mojo. Evans has been disappointing from day 1.

feels like other teams did a better job of adjusting to what we were doing than we did to what they were doing.
the Bogie defense is very recent. he was a consistent 20 for a long stretch.

All I'm saying is I recall watching a telecast in late Jan/early Feb. We had the easiest or 2nd easiest SOS in the East so far. Then they showed the remaining schedule and we had the toughest remaining. That is a big deal.

I'd call it a major win since we lost Oladipo so early. This year has a bit of magic to it, and really showed us a lot about the guys we have.

that everyone was so obviously happy for Sumner says a lot. the win meant nothing but there they were yelling and dancing for him. even Victor cheered his TV set.

Yup. Great to see.
Also, with the way it all shook out, we finished in a 3 way tie for the 18th draft pick. Tiebreakers will be determined tomorrow via coinflips this year as to how the draft shakes out for the 18th, 19th, and 20th pick. The Spurs and Clippers (whose pick goes to Boston no matter what, now) are the other two teams involved.
