Draft Day 2019

Hi all! No draft day predictions here, keep them in the other thread here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1856433

Pacers enter the day slotted to pick at 18 and 50. We appear to be active in discussions around the league, though.
Rumors are we've inquired about #4 from New Orleans and Atlanta at #10 (though walked away when Atlanta asked for Aaron Holiday), though no immediate targets have been mentioned for us to move up for. Either way, it appears we could move, but would have to be willing to move Dom Sabonis or Aaron Holiday to do so.

Also, no unanimity in thelast mocks as to whom we're looking at:

And, 3 Players we could be considering at 18 from Indystar

Interested in trying to buy a 2nd round pick? We enter the draft with $5.133m remaining in our 2018-19 allotment, which expires on June 30th. Here's what's gone down in regards to that so far:

That future 2nd rounder is protected in a way that it only conveys if its 51-55 (56-60 goes to Cleveland from the Dwyane Wade deal last year), and was $1.88m paid in cash.

Did we get Warren for cap space? And we kept #18?

Seems to pretty much be the case.

Yup. Started a thread for it, but we basically paid the minimum to make a deal legally work and got TJ and the 32.

It’s a win-win. We get a fringe starter at 3-4 for 11.5 m. Similar players are making 18 per.

I wouldn’t put it past Pritchard to sell 32 for a future moderately protected first. Although I’d be all over Carson Edwards if he slips

I don't know much about college players, but it seems to me like Culver, Hunter, and Garland are all in same tier

So if we're going to trade up, instead of trading up to #4, I'd just trade up to #6 and take whichever one of them is there

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I was just getting settled in to watch the draft at 7:00PM. Had my Pizza, Beer and chips all ready to go....

.....and then at 6:45PM THE POWER WENT OFF!!! OH NO!

I got a call from Duke energy saying they hoped to have it restored by 9:30PM. Sad time!

Then the power came back on at 6:55PM!!!!

Fingers crossed!

Reports are that 1 through 5 are figured.
1) Zion
2) Morant
3) Barrett
4) Hunter
5) Garland - but maybe be drafting to deal him for value, like Orlando Philly a couple years ago

Did the clouds break just a tiny bit to let the sun shine in on your TV???

Odd that you should say that. Right when the power came back on, the sun DID come out. I think it was just a limb had fallen on the power line, and then likely fell off it. Its Brown County, so that sort of thing happens.

Thank goodness I have some VERY good radios, so I could still listen to the draft if it goes back off....but let's hope it doesn't.

Darn, I wanted Hunter at the 4 at 4.

KP missing sweet opportunities refusing to admit he is wrong about Sabonis and Turner playing together.

OR....NO wasn't willing to give up the 4 for Sabonis?

No, it has to be Kev being blind positive about Turner because Turner is a very nice guy.

And he had Larry to teach him how to keep players no matter what the future would bring. Granger, Hibbert.

History is on my side, how long we stick behind our own players, because they are our players, not because we can not build a better team if we move 1.

I get that we develop and keep our players longer. Partially because generally the cost of free agency is expensive for a less desirable market like us, but...man, do you. Might you be a little blind about your love of Sabonis and hate of Myles? Or hate of Pritchard? Generally teams don't turn over 15 roster spots a year, so a few guys sticking around makes sense. :dontknow:
