Vic likely out until at least December

I personally had long speculated this as a possibility that he'll be out into next season, and now we have our first reported timetable in some time for Vic's potential return:

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/victor-oladipo-injury-update-pacers-president-kevin-pritchard-believes-all-star-could-be-out-until-december-or/

It's precisely the reason why I had said we needed to look at alternative SG options both in the draft and free agency. Speaking of which, the Pelicans seemed to be overstocked now in the backcourt, and it appears that E'Twaun Moore and the final year of his contract could be made available for the right price. We could possibly offer Doug and one of the Miami picks obtained last night...

Not sure we have a 3 other than Doug at this point. If we can get Bojan resigned a McD/Etwan exchange could make a lot of sense.

if Wesley doesn't get offers above the veteran minimum, I'd bring him back. the best answer though could be CoJo particularly if we sign Rubio or some other veteran 1.

I'd only trade Doug as a last result because we're thin at 3 as well as 2 until we know about Bogie ... and Doug could be our best answer at 2.

how do we feel about CoJo, Doug, and Sumner holding down the 2 until Vic is 100%?

The thing with CoJo is, when he gets the ball everything tends to just stop. There were so many times this past season when you could tell he was going to shoot from the moment he got the ball. Didn't matter how long it took him to get to where he thought he had a shot, he wasn't going to pass, only shoot. Killed any movement we might have had. Over this past year I went from being a bit of a fan of his, due to his hustle and hard work, to not really liking him at all.

With Doug, maybe if we had a point guard who was better at getting shooters the ball he would be more effective. I think that is where a Rubio type comes into play.

Sumner? I don't know if I've seen enough to say whether he would work or not. He did some good things, but the sample size is so small...

I hated him against Boston too, but I'm okay with him playing some two while Vic is out. continuity has value.

If we sign Rubio, there’s no place on the roster for CoJo, except as a 3rd string PG. I’d hate to bring him back as a SG, when he can’t shoot. I’d really rather play Doug as a super tall SG with a Warren at SF.

But Wes on a room exception or less would be ideal with Sumner there.

Aaron Holiday will get a LOT of minutes.

Unfortunately, I expected that. That's when the initial reports said he'd return. All I care about, though, is that he returns 100% healthy and without being in any danger to injure it again.

This is a great opportunity for someone who would otherwise be a teams 5th guard. Once the money is dried up there will be some experienced guys without a job. There will also be players who get stretched. Wesley Matthews seems like a good example of the type of player that we might be looking at. I think it’s possible we get Bojan and Rubio (or some other vet PG) signed and still have some cap left. If that’s the case maybe Justin Holiday?
