Interest in Kevin Love?

Post#1 » by Richfield » Sat Jun 29, 2019 4:30 am

Greetings Pacers fans. Cavs fan here.

One of our beat writers is suggesting the Pacers might have interest in Kevin Love this summer.

http://amicohoops.net/amico-cavaliers-free-agency-plans-centered-on-themselves/

"....word is, the Indiana Pacers would be thrilled to put him next to Victor Oladipo."

So I come in peace, and ask what you guys think is fair?

Personally I want your new Rookie plus a piece, probably one or two of your front court guys, depending which, and or future picks.

You are welcome to come to the Cavs side and discuss it in this thread...
viewtopic.php?f=11&p=76866777#p76866777

Or if you prefer to keep it in this thread, cool.

Would love to know what you guys think either way.

It's possible both teams will be under the cap by the time any deal is done, so matching salaries may not be a priority. But that will depend on if the Cavs take back salary from another team for JR Smith, so it might matter after all.

You guys watch a lot of Pacers, the guys in the Cavs thread watch a lot of Cavs. Maybe we can find a deal both sides like.

If you don't want Kevin Love, no problem. But know in advance that we're NOT just trying to dump his salary, probably not worth trying to convince us otherwise. It's been much discussed, and the details of the situation means that's not going to happen. So I hope to see some decent offers if you have any. Thanks!

Doesn’t sound like Pritchard to be honest. He’s talked about how many holes we have to fill on the roster, and how quickly our cap space will disappear when trying to fill them all. Kevin Loves salary doesn’t help that. Plus, with Myles and Dom, we’ve got a ton of minutes locked up at the 4 and 5. We want to get Goga, Leaf, and Alize some time too. Warren is supposedly a priority as a small ball 4.

I lived in Cleveland for 7 years, though I’ve been in Cincy for the last 4. I never saw Amico as too on the nose. Could it be he’s repeating something from long ago that has changed?

You're too polite, Scoot. Amico has like zero credibility. He's famous for being "one letter away from a real NBA insider" - that's Sam Amick.

I would have a hard time accepting KLove as a salary dump let alone giving value for him. Realistically I'd want value added to the Pacers for accepting that albatross of a salary.

I think you have that backwards. Cleveland would have to throw in pieces and picks for the Pacers to accept the oft-injured and salary cap killing Love.

If we had space and little or no playoffs hopes for 2-3 years I'd take him into space for 3 #1's with little or no protection. But otherwise I would have no interest in that guy. He's over paid and not that good.

We don't have $29 million in cap space and there is no one on the team I'd trade for him.

Hey Richfield thanks for stopping by. Sorry this Amico person is smoking something IDK what but something.

We would have no interest in Love. $29 million for a guy who is gonna be 31 in September and who has a history of missing a lot of games. I wouldn't give anything for the guy with that contract and that age, and history of injuries. I think you're team is stuck with him unless you can find a worse contract.

Nah we're not trading him for a contract. He's worth more than that to us. Thanks for your 2 cents.

Thanks for stopping by, Richfield, but I do believe that the vast majority of Indiana's fanbase has no interest at all in Kevin Love. He doesn't fit our timeline. Our objective this summer was to get younger and we did that. KLove would clash with that objective pretty hard.

Maybe you could package him and a few expiring contracts for Westbrook. The Thunder is looking to avoid luxury tax.

I think Love has something left in the tank but the fit here couldn't be worse. Myles/Domas are our building blocks at the big spots and Love doesn't fit at all with that. Not to mention the timeline/contract issues.

A team with a roster makeup that's already very good defensively that desperately requires shooting ability and scoring at PF, preferably with a rim protector and rangy defenders in place would be a great fit for Love. It would also need to be a team very close to title contention that he puts over the top. I feel he needs an almost perfect situation to succeed at this point and nobody really jumps out at me.

Actually before they fell apart I felt that OKC would have been the perfect fit, He would have been a great complement to the Westbrook/George/Adams core. Presti should have been trying to make that deal at the deadline (or was Love hurt? Oh well...)

Love is a good 3rd option for contending teams if he stays healthy. He has value and is a good player for some teams but at his salary is a NO MOVE for Pacers.
For the same amount or 20% higher Pacers can have both Domas and Myles so no reason for Pacers to do it.

I think Love to Portland makes the most sense.

Return to Indiana Pacers
