I'm hearing that this is the beginning of free agency. Is that correct?

Yup. “First negotiations” are able to commence then. We should know a lot in the next 24-48 hours.

I think the ESPN free agency special show starts at 5:00pm and runs until 12:00am. It will be interesting to see how many "pre-negotiated" deals are announced before 6:00. Yeah, it breaks the rules, but you have to wonder how much anyone really cares.

Barnes is re-signing with Kings for 4/$90m. For that money I'd rather have Bojan.

4/$80m for Bojan is about where I pegged his value. Should be doable for the Pacers.

Really hoping we'll get him back. I like the idea of Warren off the bench better than starting at the 3.

No, Bojan is in his prime, he will produce for a few more years and deserves around 20 mil per year in this current market.

Scoot has said we can offer 18.3. I assume with raises we could get to an average of 20.

I think Bojan wants 4 guaranteed years and if Pacers offer at least that and 76mill/4yrs he might stay and decline 80mill from Jazz or Spurs. Buy if Pacers offer 3yrs guaranteed he is gone, and Pacers will not replace his production with a cheaper contract.
Its just a fact.

I remember when the topic came up before you were like, oh Bojan doesn't care about money, he'd just want to stay somewhere where he's respected and appreciated. And the rest of us were like, he's getting $20m+ per year at least. I don't blame him btw. NBA careers are short, he should get what he can while he's at his peak.

If we use Early Bird rights, we can offer a maximum of 4/$82m according to the capulator. OR we can use cap space, in which case we are just limited by the available amount of cap space. The second way is not advisable, as it would seriously cut into the Pacers' spending money for this FA.

Well... we were talking about 15-17 mill for 3 years... this is different... but nobody knows what Bojan wants... we only read
speculations...

Does anyone else think our bigger move(s) during free agency may come from trades rather than FA signings? Just got a feeling that may be the way it goes.

My opinion on Bogie has not changed: I'm willing to do $15m for him, $20m is too much

Or let me put this way: Pacers have about $31-34m in cap space; spending $20m on Bojan means Pacers might not even be able to afford Rubio, we'd end up having to go for someone like Reggie Bullock - signing Rubio instead of Bojan means we'll still have enough money to sign another wing like Terrence Ross or Danny Green

So the question becomes, which do you want more, Bogie + Bullock, or Rubio + Ross/Green?

With TJ Warren already on the roster, PG is where we should be spending the money at, so unless Bogie suddenly develops PG skills, I'm not paying him $20m

I don’t know if that’s what we will do, but I think that’s probably our best bet at getting better caliber players.
