Myles Turner - What would it take to get him?
Hello Pacers fans. Wanted to take a temp check on Myles Turner’s value.
Warriors are looking for a final piece, ideally a center who can defend and play their style.
We’ve got a TPE for just under Turner’s salary, and likely a top 3 pick in the 2020 draft. We would would need to bring in a 3rd team to make it happen.
If you were to give him up, what would you be looking for back?

Warriors would probably listen.
Assuming you want more established players, one thought was a 3-way with the Suns where Oubre and Looney head your way. With some movement of picks all around.
Another thought would be a 3-way with the Hawks with and extended John Collins coming back.
What positions would you be looking to bolster in a trade?

That's the easy part. A power forward who can both score and defend. a healthy Draymond would have once been tempting but based on watching him play against us this year I don't think he has the value he once did. our announcers were saying that he'd lost the ability to stop quickly.
but while there are Turner traders a plenty here and on twitter, my own view is the team isn't interested and that the only thing that would make him less than untouchable would be for him to request to be traded. it was generally accepted that this year would be an experiment in playing Turner and Sabonis together. yes, Sabonis is benefiting from the improved minutes and is having a great year but Tuner's defense and 3 point shooting are important too.
it is suddenly clear though that this year is all about Victor. we were doing great without him and have completely collapsed since he returned. management said there would be three parts to the season - no Victor - Victor working his way back - Victor normal. let's hope they were right and there is a third part, but either way his return is overshadowing the Turner/Sabonis pairing experiment. I'll be surprised if any big trade is made until at least the 2021 deadline.

You know he lead the NBA in blocks last season. I'd Turner your new Darren Collison?

Well, I'll go a bit more abstract, and say that I'll personally look for a player who has All NBA 2nd team talent, who fits the Pacers' timeline
Preferably at one of the forward spots
Myles alone might not have such trade value, so I'll add - depending on who that player I'm getting is

Would an extended John Collins fit the bill? Hawks may want to maintain their cap space and be willing to move him for picks.

Pacers do not have a 2020 1st, but if you are saying we'd need to add picks to Myles to get Collins, I think it'd be a fast no,

No. The drug violation is a huge red flag. Any more missed tests or violations, and he’s a Tyreke Evans and disqualified from basketball for 2 years.
Plus, Collins can’t be extended and traded this summer. It’s be two different actions.

Ultimately, it’s have to fill the massive hole it creates. We’d need a premiere rim defending 4 that has solid shooting range beyond the arc. So, essentially a Myles Turner.
For GS to make any solid offers, you’d have to wait until after the draft lotto and we all see what’s realistically available to even start a discussion. Plus, probably a solid vet coming back to help fill the position in the meantime.

No the Warriors have the picks To offer. So it would basically be some form of top 3 pick to Hawks, Collins / Filler to Pacers, Turner to Warriors.
Or if you would rather cut back on Salary you could get the pick yourself and draft a guy like Toppin. Would need to give you an expiring contract we acquire with the TPE (someone like Rudy Gay who could fit)

I don't think so
As another poster mentioned, he comes with a huge red flag, I don't think it's a risk that many (or any, really) Pacer posters find worthwhile

He’s still an absolute game changer defensively, and is pretty necessary to clean up after Dom’s defensive shortcomings. His blocks are down because he’s having to chase guys through the lane a lot more with Lamb, Warren, and Dom playing beside him this year rather than Thad, Oladipo, and Bogie.

Re: Myles Turner - What would it take to get him?
there are some tweets this morning saying some team made a big run at Myles at the deadline and one of their players tried to recruit him. Cleveland is mentioned by some as the team although I can't see us trading him to any Eastern Conference team.
personally, I'm more and more convinced as I see Vic making us worse instead of better than it is going to take a full year from his return to evaluate the current roster fairly.

I think it’s really Brogdon’s head/back injury thAts hurting us. He’s been playing much more upright and he looks uncomfortable when he stops and starts now, as if he’ll do it, but know that it’ll kill off the rest of his energy.

This is a transition year at this point. We have lost 6in a row, throwing games away t the end, losing to teams we should be beating it's getting hard to watch these days.

that's certainly part of it. he's not been the same since the concussion. I also think a part of it is Vic's offense. his defense seems to be back, but he's not yet figured out his offensive limitations. I thought that 3 he took at the end of the game was an example of him putting too much on his shoulders. his body hasn't caught up with his head yet.
