I think its time the Pacers make a drastic trade. They need to trade Oladipo and pieces and get a real star. Somehow get Beal to the Pacers. If its 3 team so be it.

Who’s the real star?

Wow that 4th Quarter, Game 4 was embarrassing absent of any coaching strategy.

Chuck a 3 and hope. Rinse/repeat. No ball movement, nothing.

Sure, sure. But, really. Who's the real star?

My fault I guess you like ISO guards that get stripped every time...

Nah. It’s not that. I just don’t think that when Vic is healthy that Beal is much better than him to pay a large premium for that upgrade. More of a “of Oladipo isn’t a star, is Beal one”?

Bring Jrue Holiday or Gary Harris to shake up the things a little bit.

Jrue is very good, and I would be more than fine with that.

Gary Harris has been an absolutely bad player for 2 full seasons now. Defensively, he's been fine, which is a downgrade from what he was supposed to be. Offensively, he's been one of the worst 2 guards in the league for 2 seasons now, and he hasn't been able to stay health for either of those seasons.

I'm ok with shaking up the roster. I just think that we have to be realistic both about who's attainable, and who is actually an upgrade or downgrade. Beal? Upgrade. Jrue? Lateral to upgrade. Harris? Downgrade, for sure.

We know ownership would never do it but we should bite the bullet and trade Myles, Lamb, and Leaf for Chris Paul. On my phone but I think that's a legal deal. Takes on money, makes Brogdon a SF basically, and hurts our defense but we still have Goga for rim protection and even when everyone was healthy we played Sampson minutes.

I'm not a Paul fan but if we're going to continue running Nate-ball then might as well get a guy who can orchestrate a real offense on his own.

I get we all get ticked at the end of a season and how it ends. Trust me been there and done that more times than I know. I agree with Scoot. Beal is a great player. He's better than a healthy Dipo. But Wash isn't doing that deal straight up. You gotta add some more assets. Let's assume you get away with dumping picks and Dipo for Beal (doubt that gets done but for arguments sake lets say it does). Does Bradley Beal make this a championship team? Hell no. So what exactly does that do for us? I want the Pacers to win every game, but the bottom line is unless they get lucky and steal a Giannis in a draft.... there is going to be a lot of 4-6 seeds and 1st and 2nd round bounces in the playoffs. And that really sucks to say, but its better than going 25-57 and whiffing in the lottery consistently like some teams.

I wanted to stop by and see what the general feeling was around Oladipo. Most Heat fans are up in the air about him, but are speculating as to whether the Heat org wants him, or he wants the Heat. Do you think that you can get a significant return for him? From my viewpoint (limited as it may be), he's had one rock solid year, followed by injuries, and has one year remaining on his deal. What is that really worth?

I genuinely think that we won't shop him. With Covid, he's the chance at one of the biggest ticket sellers we could have. Build some advertising around him re-strengthening that quad, and getting right, and the business is just too much to overlook for trading him for role players, or unknown picks, etc. As we saw, he can have some great explosiveness back, but it really seemed like he's still working back on second jumps, and off leg jumps, and after long-runs, he just loses the strength in his legs to get up the long shots he wants to succeed at. He's talked about how atrophied his leg was when he first got the bandages off, and how it's still only 70%ish...well, now he's gotta prove that's what it is. Not just for us in Indy, but first and foremost if he wants to max out his contract like he's talked about.

I think he also has a problem with his mind/confidence not being back to where it needs to be. Sometimes getting that back is more difficult than getting the physical part back, or at least can take longer.

I feel like Vic played much better in game 4, looking a little bit more like his old self. Gives me hope that he would return strong for the next season

I think Pacers have a decision to make

Do they remake the roster to get players who fits Nate's coaching style, or do they make changes to the coaching staff in order to maximize what the team has on the roster

Or, there's always the third option of maintaining the status quo and hoping for the best

Which, unfortunately, seems to be the most likely path to be taken

Unless you have Gregg Popovich at the head of your staff, you always remake the coaching staff, and sometimes, remake the head coach.

Myles isn't the only one affected by the current coaching style, I think

Brogdon was poorly utilized as well

Against the Heat, he either tried to bulldoze his way into the paint with mixed results, or he just stood around at the 3pt line waiting for his turn to chuck a 3-pter

Either he's a terrible decision maker, or his play was the result of the team's system (or lack of it)

One of those is more likely than the other, I feel

Brogdon was learning how to be an NBA level PG all year and had some injury issues that limited that. However, we saw similar issues with Teague and Collison. I think there should be some hesitancy about Brodgon's season as it relates to being a PG, though he was a positive in general. But Nate's system did him no real favors.

I will say that it was somewhat alarming that the ball seemed to stop with him on more plays than I would have liked last game.

I can understand that.

From what I've read, his offseason hub is Miami, and he'd like to be closer to all of it. There's also some friendships in the org that he's made. It seems that he'd really like to be in Miami.

Do you think Indy will pay him a big contract? As a Heat fan, I wouldn't want to max him out, but an average of $20 million a year would be palatable.

It’s been reported that Indy has a standing max extension offer if he were to resign before free agency, and that they would be willing to offer a max salary if he waits to free agency. $20m is way less than he’s eligible for now, and he wants to maximize his income. Oladipo on $20m would be possibly the best value contract in the NBA in years.

As for Miami, he doesn’t actually own a place there, I believe. He stays with his trainer when he rehabs there, but still has his home in Orlando. He’s close with Wade, but he also has a ton of close friendships from his time at IU up in Indiana too.
