He’s extremely hard to work with and burns bridges extremely quick. Players hated playing under him, which goes against what Pritchard talked about of finding a modern players coach. That understand the guys nowadays and communicates with them in ways that make sense to them.

And I really want someone younger. Looks like Lue to Clips. I hope New Orleans takes MDA off the table. Could we be waiting to interview a Miami or Laker assistant?

I've yet to read anything exciting about Joerger. I worry about MAD wanting to gut the roster to play smaller, but if Pritchard lets him know that Turner and Sabonis are starters and he takes the job knowing that, I suppose I can live with him.

I have no way of evaluating assistant coaches other than by the head coach who has mentored them. that has me liking Spurs and Raptors assistants. Miami too of course and I keep thinking we're going slow because we like someone whose team is still playing.

I’d be cool with a first time coach like Becky, Chauncey or Craig but I like MDA if KP decides to go with a retread.

Either way this team is going to be different next season which is exciting to me.

I think my preferences of the typical names are in this order.

1. Dave Joerger
2. Becky Hammon
3. Mike D'Antoni
4. Nate Bjorkgren

For me it's:
3
2
1
4

Although the two biggest things I'd like to see in the new HC is the ability to bring out the full potential of a Domas-Myles pairing, and better utilization of Brogdon, Doug, and Goga, so I'm happy with any name really as long as they can do that

Not a very inspiring list honestly.

Maybe Joerger got a bad rap for no reason, but I don't think we should be willing to take that chance. He wasn't elite at all, though he had some interesting aspects.

Billups could be a good coach, but no one really knows. I feel like he's more of a try to keep Vic happy hire in hopes he can make Brogdon/Vic work.

I'll trust KP if he goes with one of the assistants as we know so little about them and how they'd do as head coaches. But I don't really recall seeing those names floated elsewhere at any time. It is somewhat concerning that it seems the assistants whose names are usually floated might not be candidates any longer. I'm curious if they declined further interviews (if reporting is correct).

And of course if we get D'Antoni it will be because he's the one guy left without a spot once the Clippers job goes to Lue, not necessarily because he wanted the job.

It is still MDA on top of my list. Then Hammon.

I've had a change of heart on Atkinson when I streamed a lot of his interviews. He's lacking something I couldn't really say what it is. He's a cool guy, but at times he sounded more like an assistant. I don't know.

Billups is really interesting, IMO. Of all the would-be first time HC candidates, I guess he has the X-Factor.

Joerger, I don't really know much about him YET. But he was good in Memphis. That Sacramento firing is really on the players and team build, I think. The Kings really had not been relevant for quite some time. Even George Karl had his problems with the team.

I still cheer for MDA because I want this team to go all-in and to not waste anymore anyone's time and money just for another forgettable playoff run (which happens every year for as long as I can remember). If MDA fails, I think it would be a good try at the very least. We can suck with anyone as a head coach anyway, so might as well try for the best.

Scott Agness mentions in his newest podcast that he’s hearing That Dan Burke is unlikely to return, not of his volition. Sounds like Burke is not a requirement for any new coach. He does say that if any current assistant is likely to return, he assumes its Bill Bayno. Says that Bill primarily works with Sabonis and that he has a long history of being close with Pritchard.

recent articles about the Colts point out how unusual it was to hire Reich without giving him a chance to dump Eberflus and hire his own defensive coordinator.

Sure. But NBA is different. GM's are much more likely to dictate some staffing as a requirement for getting the job. We did it when we took the interim off of Vogel, when we dictated that Burke return, and that Vogel hire Brian Shaw. The Lakers dictated it to Vogel with his hiring in bringing in Jason Kidd.

As much as I love Burke's personality and have been impressed by his body of work here over the years, the defense that we were playing against the Heat was not working at all, and it is probably going to get less effective as time goes on and switching becomes more and more a staple.

Hard to know if that's more on Burke or Nate though.
