Let us also recognize that no one had this hire, or even had him listed as a favorite or a finalist.

It is indeed a twist of epic proportions.

I like this. Would rather take a chance on someone unproven as a head coach but successful as an assistant over a retread.

I have to say that I know less about him than I know about all the other candidates............

which means I know how to pronounce all the other's last names.

Agreed. This again demonstrates that all these "insiders", whether it be ESPN, Hoop Collective, FakeGM's, or whoever have no inside info on the Pacers. They just use dartboards. Remember the Paul George/Oladipo/Sabonis trade came out of nowhere too.

Kevin Pritchard runs a tight ship.

I also really like this. Not a retread guy. Seems innovative and interesting at the very least. Excited to see how this plays out. One caveat here might be the reluctance of the guys on the team to buy into a no-name assistant as opposed to Lue, Chauncey, etc. who are familiar names around the league.

Maybe, but he was also Nick Nurse's right hand guy for a long time and has a very recent championship as lead assistant. There will likely be some goodwill there.

He was my early favorite based upon something I saw online. It might have been this but there are several videos on youtube

Long interview about Bjorkgren from a year or so ago. Interesting quote:

Nurse prepares his staff for the bright lights by encouraging them to become as well-rounded as they can be. The responsibility of the top assistants rotates every 10 games. Bjorkgren could be tasked with running the offense, then a few weeks later he’ll format the defensive scheme. It’s been a great way for Bjorkgren and his colleagues to feel valued.
