I like this. Would rather take a chance on someone unproven as a head coach but successful as an assistant over a retread.

Agreed. This again demonstrates that all these "insiders", whether it be ESPN, Hoop Collective, FakeGM's, or whoever have no inside info on the Pacers. They just use dartboards. Remember the Paul George/Oladipo/Sabonis trade came out of nowhere too.

I also really like this. Not a retread guy. Seems innovative and interesting at the very least. Excited to see how this plays out. One caveat here might be the reluctance of the guys on the team to buy into a no-name assistant as opposed to Lue, Chauncey, etc. who are familiar names around the league.

Maybe, but he was also Nick Nurse's right hand guy for a long time and has a very recent championship as lead assistant. There will likely be some goodwill there.
