Pritchard was with Portland 2004-2010, so there’s another obvious connection there.

Interim HC in Portland followed Nate McMillan's firing. Sounds like another Pritchard connection.

Is he a Latino? If not, we're short on diversity.

His Wikipedia states that he was the first Mexican-American head coach in NBA history when he was interim head coach in Portland after Nate McMillan was fired there.

Thanks. Somehow I missed this line in Wikipedia.

An offensive guys sounds good. Bayno big man coach? Defense coming?

Sent from my phone.

Bjorkgren has been clear we won’t have assignments but that the assistant coaches will coach everything and rotate assignments every couple weeks, like Nurse does in Toronto.

True, but like players, coaches have strengths and weaknesses. We could hire someone with defensive experience and still not pigeonhole them.

Sure. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. But sounds like they’ll still be rotated, so the strengths won’t be what they’re always doing. We won’t have a big man coach apparently. Or a defensive coach. Or an offensive coach. They’ll do different things consistently, so we can’t pigeonhole them.

As for the Bayno, he’s not a big man coach, per se. According to reports, he’s just a development coach.

I think the tweets that had Bayno behind the bench as a development coach have been discounted. I see Caitlin has something up on indycornrows.com

I’m sorry. I’ll be clearer. I didn’t mean that.

I meant, he’s not a big man coach. He’s an overall player development type coach. But still a front of the bench assistant. He’s worked with Oladipo and Sabonis. And reports are he’s working with Aaron in LA too. So, not just a big man coach, is what I was trying to say.

Also, if we stick with 3 assistant coaches like in the past, we’d be full up with Kanales, Greg Foster, and Bill Bayno.

That is all that is allowed "on the bench." Obviously you have all the guys behind it that play an assistants role.

Kind of. Not really. There are things a back bench coach can and cannot do. But yes, there are always more people in an organization than just the 4 front line coaches. Clearly I was talking “front of the bench” coaches.
