Training Camp/Preseason Stuff

With the offseason quickly wound down, seems useful to separate out some of the training camp stuff.

Tony East had a good write up of the camp invites, 2 ways, and exhibit 10 guys if you don’t know who or what a player is.

^ Very good article. As Cooper points out, for someone who theoretically stretches the floor, Myles' defender sags off him way too often.

If there's one thing that I hope Myles would change, it's to shoot the damn ball every time he has a glimmer of daylight. I don't know whether it's on him or on the coach, but I hope new Nate threatens to bench him every time he passes up a shot. I don't think it's too late for Myles to reinvent himself. Brook Lopez did for example, relatively late in his career. To quote Cooper, fire away Myles, fire away.

I agree. This was the thing that bugged me last year. All too often he’d get the ball behind the arc, with no one within 8’, and he’d hesitate, and then dribble to a better ball handler to hand the ball off. Those wide open shots need to be taken, and often. I’d love to see him take 7-8 3’s a night, on average.

Don’t mind me. I just absolutely love Justin Holiday as a player to an absurd degree.

Justin Holiday played harder and better last year than some guys who make 3x the money.

The schedule is out for the first half of the season. Looks like we have a brutal west coast trip in January.

Was actually coming to post this same thing. I usually ignore platitudes like this in camp. Everyone feels better than they have in years, everyone is in the best shape of their life, etc. But I feel like I’ve seen every single player make this comment in camp this year. Hopefully bodes well.

If we are ever going to see what Myles can be he has to be turned loose on the offensive end.
Way to often he was open and did not shoot. In the NBA and open shot is the best shot generally you are going to get
He needs to act like a lite Kevin Durant. Give him the green light and lets find out if he and the Pacers can change
their fortunes.

I don't really put much stock in it either. It's just like the only thing going on right now.

Wow. It's like, they are actually being coached now

The feeling of seeing this is like being hit with a crisp, cool morning breeze, after being stuck for far too long in a fart filled elevator

He seems like it? But his foot injury is the type of thing that might pop up again this year since we had a short offseason and rest period for the injury to heal.

Yesterday (12/9) was the last day to waive a player and stretch the contract. Some suggested waiving Lecque, but I've not seen a report saying we did so.
