Just threw a monkey wrench into TJ being the defensive 4.

Yeah this definitely means that Oshae has a clearer path to some minutes now.

Of course the Pacers wanted him back to start the season so they could see the starting lineup together for once but not happening. :banghead: Sucks for TJ because it’s a contract year and sucks for Pacers because it’s gonna be hard to warrant paying up next year for a player coming off injury. Kinda like Oladipo situation except Oladipo did them the favor of declining the offer.

You did see it. And it’s not inaccurate. We just thought it might have been Warren playing 5 on 5 like normal, when really, it sounds like Ike it was probably 1 on 1 in terms of his rehab.

Looking back, in the pictures of the team training together, I think Warren was watching, which was assumed to be that he was just waiting his run. :dontknow:

Yeah, I think Lamb probably sticks around a bit longer now, and there’s much less rush to move him. Even Kelan looks to be on steadier ground too. And there’s clearly more of an opening for Oshae/Craig to take a role. Even Duarte will likely get more minutes out of this, as Justin may have to play more at the 3.

The report says TJ’s recovery is slower than anticipated. Camp is in 3 weeks. Season starts in 6 weeks. We’ll see how long he misses.

I've never been convinced of him being a "4" to begin with.

It's encouraging that there's seemingly no rush or it's that he reinjured the foot again.

no sense of new injury just longer rehab. I assume Justin starts and Duarte gets a shot at 3 rather than 2. opens door for Sumner and Martin at 2.

in case anyone is confused, the title of the thread is from the 2020-21 season. his rehab is going slowly but there is no indication he is lost for the whole 2021-22 season.

Other than he plays for the Pacers, and you know the team's history with injuries, so........

I don't actually mind this too much

Better to let the foot heal properly than to rush him back - it's not like we are a TJ Warren away from going to the finals, not right now at least

Also Warren's absence may benefit players like Duarte and Sumner, in terms of playing time available to them

Obviously this isn't the type of news we would like to hear, but it's not the worst either

Stepping out there with this prediction.

Duarte moves into the starting line and never gives it up.

I say that is unlikely to happen before the first game, but I wouldn't bet against it happening by the all star break if Warren is still out.

Reading your thoughts and knowing how stories are put into the media TJ might be ready sooner than they want you to believe. His healing might seem slower than expected, however in 6 weeks we might see a much improved outlook. Fingers crossed.

Star ranked the 15 Pacers and made Warren #1.

 If healthy he wouldn’t be #1 in my opinion.

He is the X factor to the season. As long as he can’t go team is a little more tied to a lineup that pairs Turner and Sabonis. I have seen no evidence that this will work any better than in the past. When the the Sabonis/Turner pairing is off the floor it’s either Jackson (19 year old rookie) or Brissett (unimpressive in summer league and pre season).

How long till he can play and how long till he is in plying shape? We could be half way through the season before we see any sembelence of the guy we remember.

Can you elaborate a little bit more on why you think the Myles and Domas pairing doesn't work?

I haven't watched the team extensively this season, but from what I can gather from watching clips here and there, they don't stand out as a problen to me
