From the GLeague website

There are a minimum of 10 players on rosters, not including a pair of two-way players allowed per NBA team. A team’s active roster may expand to up to 13 players if its parent club assigns players from the NBA roster.

It was obvious the limited minutes he played in summer league and preseason that his best skill is rebounding. Hopefully he works on defense, offensive game, and movement on offense this season.

Hopefully this is to rehab and get playing time. Of course the Mad Ants are most likely practicing in Indy so he won’t be far. I heard the announcers say that they were playing a couple of games at noon this week Tuesday and Wednesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indy.

FYI

Tickets are $15 apiece for Mad Ants games in Indy this week. Then Ticketmaster shows $3.80 service fee apiece plus a $6.75 order processing fee. Almost as much as the $15 ticket cost.

I always used to use Stubhub and get deep discounted tickets for Pacers and Colts.

Yeah. Jackson hasn’t yet fully practiced in his return from injury, so at the least, he’ll get to practice 5 on 5 with the Max Ants this week. It’s a good sign in his recovery, for sure, that he’s already progressed this far. Remember, just to practice or work with the Mad Ants team or staff in any way, he has to be assigned to G League team.

All those extra fees. What do they think they are, a cable company?

Like any convenience service for those who’ll pay for it or for the people rolling in money it’s a normal expenditure. For me it was a luxury I rarely caved to.

I grew up Near Deer Creek and would go get tickets at the box office there on site back in the day. They would still charge convenience fees, for buying at the box office if the site of the show, which never made any sense to me. I appreciate that the Music Hall in Cincinnati is only a service fee of something small like $1.50 (and ticket tax required by the state of Ohio for all shows), but clearly lists it.

I just really wish places would be honest about ticket prices or subscription fees. List them added up. Be open.

2 for 1 trade happening so someone has to go to G league?

Showcasing Goga to draw interest and trade him ?

Probably not at all. Just reps. The GLeague team is playing in Grand Rapids MI tonight and the big league team is playing in Milwaukee tomorrow. It’s a good time to get him 30+ minutes of play and still have him with the Pacers for their game.

that doesn't open a roster spot. it isn't like the NFL where you cut a player and if he clears waivers, you sign him to the practice squad.

I was thinking they’d given up on him and he wouldn’t be coming back to the Pacers. Like permanent Mad Ants property until traded or released.

No. That's not how it works. Contracts can't be given to and from the G League. There are 2 way guys, that are essentially G-League guys with the ability to be active on the NBA roster for 50 or so days a year (Dejon Jarreau and Duane Washington have those 2 spots this year), and then there are NBA players that are on contract to the NBA team, but can be assigned to play/rehab for the G League team. Their contracts are never not belonging to the NBA team, and this assignment doesn't open up any roster spots overall. It's not like in baseball where teams "assign" a contract to the minors, or "designate a player for assignment". It's just a chance for the players to get minutes and practice with the G-League team. We even assigned Vic Oladipo back and forth to Ft. Wayne so that he could practice with the G-League team (when they were actually practicing in Indy at the facility).

Indy has historically been active in sending guys down to get playing time, since Ft. Wayne is so close to Indy. Just this year, Isaiah Jackson has been assigned to the G-League team for 4 games. He was always under contract to the Pacers throughout.
