Based on some of the things I've said on here in the past, this post may surprise a few people.

But at this point, I am sick and tired of going online and seeing trade proposals for this guy. Seriously, it's all that ever comes up when googling the guy's name these days. Beyond annoying.

As the longest tenured Pacer and one of our top locker room voices, trading him now with our third coach in three years would not be the best thing for team unity.

At this point I would rather trade Sabonis - That is how much I don't want trade Turner...

On the "top locker room voices" front. According to KP, we don't have good locker room leadership. It is one of the things he is looking for.

Myles has not really shown much progress for a while. Basically what he does is block a few shots each game. He is otherwise not a great defender, nor a great shooter, nor even a good rebounder and I don't think his basketball IQ has improved much at all. He is like a lot of our roster - Just another guy. For $18M per year, we can't afford "just another guy".

Personally, I don't think the team can turn a deaf ear to trade offers for any of the players.

I don't want to trade Myles for reasons that OP has already mentioned

He's the longest tenured Pacer currently, he's loyal, and he's a great all around teammate

On the court, he's not someone to build a team around, but he's one of the best, if not the best, supplementary piece type of player that a winning team can have

Someone like Myles is basically the perfect addition to their squad

For a team that already has Steph Curry, Klay, and Draymond in place, someone like Myles is basically the final piece of the puzzle

Unfortunately for us, we are holding this final piece of the puzzle, but we are missing the rest of the puzzle

I don't want to move Myles just for the sake of moving him or making changes. I don't even want to move him for a chance to improve

To me, there are really just two approaches to Myles

Hang on to him, and hope that we can figure out the rest of the puzzle ourselves before too long, or trade him to one of the teams looking for the final piece of the puzzle

If we trade him, like I said, I don't want to trade him just for the sake of trading him or making changes, or even just for a chance to improve - I want to know that we are absolutely upgrading the team with the trade

I'm fine with trading anybody if the value is good. I don't think we have any players that are locked in as franchise cornerstones. The Pacers have actually made a few significant moves over the last couple years getting Warren on the cheap, the S&T for Brogdon and then the Oladipo trade this last season. In all those cases though there wasn't any drumbeat of rumors leading up to those deals. Obviously, Dipo was speculated about, but the actual deal kind of came out of nowhere.

I've seen some trade board deals for Turner that I'd be happy with. I agree that he's a good player and we shouldn't give him away, but I think he's getting hyped up a bit right now based on his blocks numbers and that's the one area of his per possession stats that has fluctuated a lot over the course of his career. If you can leverage that into getting some other pieces then that's fine by me.

There is nobody in the league that wouldn't get traded for the right price.

The really interesting thing about those moves? Both of their previous teams are in the NBA Final Four!

Wonder how they feel about that.

Doesn't seem to have put a damper on the Suns or Bucks.

I would heavily disagree to the bold. Myles has shown tremendous progress. He’s changed his body, rebuilt his mobility, and become a guy that can defend from the perimeter to the rim. He’s been great on the pick and roll, and he can’t be picked on in switches. He’s a guy that not only blocks a ton of shots, but also recovers and covers for his teammates mistakes with positioning and scaring away attacks and shots. Sure, he could shoot better, and we hope he will. He could rebound better, but he’s a fine enough defensive rebounder, and his offensive rebounding is pretty bad, partially due to playing so far from the basket. He’s not added the type of game that’s led him to put up 20+ points per game, but his defense has definitely evolved from blocking shots on his man, to defending an entire team. His positioning and understanding of the game have grown a ton, even on offense with his added ability to drive to the basket on close outs, direct effective passing, and see where action is coming, not just where it currently is. He’s flawed, for sure, but he’s definitely grown, even if his scoring hasn’t grown.

I would definitely trade Myles if we can get a talent upgrade for him (through the draft, via getting a young guy with good upside back or in a package for a star) but I wouldn't trade him just for the sake of trading him. It's never a good idea to trade a guy just for the sake of trading him.
