Sounds like they’ve b en trying to deal Lamb for a 3rd PG and the inability to get a deal done lead to this happening, as yesterday was the last day to unilaterally pull the QO.

Wonder if this means Sykes will be signed, or if they are still looking?
Darned interesting they had no takers for Lamb.

I never thought Stanley was getting more than a two way. That can happen still if he doesn't get a better offer.
Lamb is separate. Never expected us to trade him for nothing to open a regular spot for Stanley.

I think this is just keeping all options open by not even guaranteeing the $50k on Stanley’s qualifying offer. It’s also a courtesy to the player and agent that, if we might not have a spot for him later as we need a PG. allows the agent to find him a spot if someone is willing to guarantee him some money.

Exactly as I saw this coming when they had the three 2 way player situation leading into summer league. Smart to be flexible. I don’t think they’ll lose Stanley unless for some reason is offered a deal from a possible contender to chase a ring.

I could see someone throwing a 2 way at Stanley with some guarantee. If he gets any sort of locked in offer with any guarantee, he should absolutely take it and run, as otherwise, he could get left out and just sign with a GLeague team and lose $300-500k.

JMichael writes that Stanley looks unlikely to stay. the key point he makes is that we're looking to add a third point guard and so far no one has bit on Lamb. I'd think that would put Martin's regular roster spot in more trouble that Stanley's two way but something should happen fairly soon.

His teammates seem to like him a lot based upon things I've read. He could be a player who got very far on athletic ability without having to understand the game. a full year with the Ants could help him if no one poaches him and he learns from being on the bubble.

I couldn’t read articles above so if this is common knowledge sorry. Here’s where I have the roster currently:
Myles
Goga
Jackson
Domas
Brissett (Non guaranteed contract)
Warren
Holiday
Craig
Lamb
Sumner
LeVert
Brogdon
McConnell
Duarte
Washington 2-way
Brimah 2-way
Thirteen guaranteed possibly fourteen if Brissett is in their plans plus 2 2-ways.
If Pacers want a point guard both Martin and Stanley (free agent) are most likely gone. Unless it’s possible either one can or would accept a 2-way and Brimah is waived to G league if possible. Both Brimah and Stanley appear to need a full season of G league competition to mature their games and in Brimah’s case body strength. Sykes was the closest player so far to a point guard, but is he NBA ready ? If not I hope he’ll get a shot with the Mad Ants if pay is enough.
Jettison Lamb and Martin probably stays.

If you simply jettison Lamb you are stuck eating his $10.5M contract. It doesn't free up any cap space.

Brimah is 27. He's an alright absolute end of the line option. But we don't need him on a 2 way. We can find similar guys in the G League if need be at any point. Beyond that, we've now got Jackson as that option essentially. If we give him a 2 way again, it's honestly a waste.

Well I meant jettison him to a willing cap space team or a trade partner where we don’t have to eat salary. I’m never good with eating salary.
Also really wouldn’t want to be a team who takes on big dollar contract to help another team out. Example is Kevin Love way overpaid for the talent left.

Interesting video thanks. He has good stats for summer league. Looks pretty thick built in the video. Could be a worthwhile signing being fresh out of college and playing with a winning team.

YouTube videos are impressive. Could be the third point guard option if someone is injured. As a two way we don't need to cut Martin to clear a roster spot.
But we still are too close to taxland.

Star is still writing about Sykes getting two way where the open spot is Martin's regular contract.
