Huge start by Myles and good defense from all.

They respecting Duarte. Quickley was facing Duarte instead of the ball the entire Pacer possession just now. It's a testament to Duarte's off ball movement skills

It’s really showing tonight that the Pacers can compete having more depth available.

Yup. This roster looks worlds better when able to start Brogdon/Levert, and TJ, Justin, and Craig play more around 20 minutes off the bench, instead of 30+ minutes starting.
Game isn’t over, so not assuming anything. But so far tonight, Levert has battled defensively, as has Sabonis they’ve both played well there. Turner has been attacking rebounds the last couple games, instead of boxing out and waiting for them, which is encouraging. We got REALLY valuable minutes from Goga tonight. Torrey Craig. I TJ use to be a very valuable signing off the bench.
A potential Warren return would do wonders, too. This team just flows much better with at least one of Brogdon or Levert on the court. Add a 3rd true downhill threat like Warren, and this would be worlds better. Duarte is playing like he could be that, but just not yet.

Carlisle has clearly been good for Myles already. VC doing that twice is pretty wild.

Another game where the big lineup was effective. Once a fluke, twice a coincidence, three times a trend. Hopefully next game creates a trend. Maybe Rick still has some mad scientist magic. Not only getting mileage out of the Turner Sabonis combination but also finding minutes for a very effective Goga. Looking forward to seeing the next one.

An injury to look out for. Justin was also shown in camera tenderly flexing and examine his wrist in the 2nd half, so would not be surprised to hear that he’s battling something, much like he did quietly last year.

Two games ina row where he has punished smaller players. Also doesn’t hurt when he shoots 70% from 3. If they can defend like this with Myles, Domas, Levert and Brogdan in the floor together no need to think about trading anyone. Portland will be an interesting test.

Myles had Mitchell Robinson or Julius Randle on him most all of the game. Robinson is 7’, 240 pounds. They’re largely the same size.
But yes on Portland. They closed out tonight with Nurkic and 4 guards in. Could be weird.

Re: Game 9 vs New York 7pm
I don’t know who guarded Kemba Walker which shot 2-11 but props to the defensive effort.
Usually Knicks have too many scoring options going off making it harder to defend. Rose has been in a funk lately and Barrett 8-20, Fournier 5-12, and Randle 6-16 is manageable. Sabonis did a great job of flustering Randle I noticed with a few times Turner rejecting his shots down low.
The depth is great now that when Holiday goes cold and Sabonis is in foul trouble they have enough fresh bodies to function and keep on getting it. LeVert coming back is such a HUGE difference maker for this team. Warren coming back could make this team top 5 Eastern Conference good. May be too late in the season but will be huge for playoffs if everyone can get healthy. Didn’t even miss Lamb or Brissett tonight.
As far as the two bigs I really think that the difference this year is Carlisle’s offense and defense sets are not putting them out of position as much so it’s working. I like that he’s using Goga with Turner or Sabonis. Also when he puts one out deep it opens up the lane a bit more for LeVert and Brogdon to drive. Also Duarte has gained enough respect that teams can’t play off him at the 3 point line or he’ll bury it thus this spreads it out further.
I can now revise my doomsday W-L prediction.

Turner with 25 points? Beating a team that is off to a hot start to the season? Goga getting some run?
Yeah I'll take it.

I feel like I've been waiting for a coach to truly buy into it since the freaking Paul George trade. Always liked the potential Turbonis pairing. Rick keeps emphasising playing big being part of the identity. It's a breath of fresh air.
I also love the way he's not afraid to go deep into the bench and experiment with lineups and/or use younger guys, something not everyone expected.

Last year Randle killed us. Tonight it looked like Sabonis and Turner got into his head.
Against Portland I will be surprised if Myles gets all those clean looks. Historically Dame and CJ torch us. Much bigger challenge for Brogdan and Levert defensively.

Re: Game 9 vs New York 7pm
LeVert and Warren are the best we have at creating offense when defenses tighten up. The return of one was big and the news of the boot coming off is just as joyful .
Turner as a rookie was pretty confident, but when expectations grew, he struggled mentally. I hope he turned that corner for eternity now. It also helps if your coach cares about players/managers feelings, but not too much.
The possibility of Myles finishing most games is high, even if it means benching Sabonis.
With our quality additions and being optimistic about getting a very healthy roster, this team deserves to put our trade negotiations on a low intensity level.
