could be mild as I believe coaches were required to be vaccinated while players were not

have to wonder if Lloyd Pierce will change anything particularly with Turner saying he wants a bigger role.

I thought all coaches were required to be vaccinated? Am I wrong about that, or was it a "breakthrough" case, or....? Does anyone know what his status was?

NOTE: I don't intend to start a war of words about vaccination here, so please, none of that OK? Just curious as to his circumstance and how it may affect the team.

Coaches were required to be vaccinated. Don’t know if he’d gotten a booster, or if it’d even been long enough after a booster to fully take effect.

Extreme and repeated amounts of exposure (like indoors in a basketball arena with 10k+ people and in locker rooms and such) can absolutely lead to breakthrough cases. Especially in the new Delta and Omicron variants. The vaccines don’t completely eliminate the chance to get infected, but greatly lessen it, and reduce symptoms and chances of death if you are infected.

Coaches are required to be vaccinated. Justin was not vaccinated.

In terms of the large numbers lately across the league, and other sports? It's probably an increased focus on testing. Largely, vaccinations minimize symptoms and suffering, so positives at any time could be much higher than one would assume, due to vaccinations and the lack of symptoms. The league started testing at higher rates due to expected family interactions and travel during the Thanksgiving holiday here in America, so it's likely revealing all the asymptomatic positives that are surprises.

Also, the omicron variant appears to be spreading at a much faster rate than the delta or the original strain.

Giannis just entered health and safety protocols, so he will miss the Pacers game tomorrow. Khris Middleton will likely miss the game due to an unconfirmed injury in last night's game.

Middleton is questionable with a hyperextended knee from Monday’s game. Cousins is out for personal reasons.

Yeah, Middleton I was just listing as he doesn't even get re-checked until tomorrow morning. I would assume he's out tomorrow, at the least.

I also missed it, but assistant Mike Weinar entered health and safety protocols on Dec 23rd.

Did the league seriously think they could make it through this season without having their own version of the pandemic? Seriously?

I’m sure they didn’t. I’m pretty sure they just wanted to make the ful payment from their partners for playing a full season.
