According to Pacers.com, Pritchard will have a live press conference today at 4:30PM

Gee, I wonder what he might talk about? Has anything new happened recently?

Maybe he's announcing some contract with a new sponsor or investor who will provide the official vehicles for the team.

Some soccer clubs do it: cars, buses and even flights, they get it for free from the sponsoring company (usually a travel company or a vehicles company or whatever) and they make a press conference presenting the new (usually luxurious) team official cars.

We could see some fine models.

First, I was happy he didn't give us another "Epic Day" quote. Maybe he learned from the last one.

And he did kinda take back the "tough out" statement. He must have gotten a good amount of flack for that one.

He did talk about the passing on of leadership roles within the team. I have to wonder how Brogdon feels about that.

You could tell he is a bit tired of the labels of re-build or re-load or re-whatever. I do a agree with that. It has to be tiring, even if it is true.

Perhaps we could look at it like when you buy a car you really like, but then you have to customize it to better fit your vision of what it should be. Maybe to change the carb to a 4-barrel, or even get a turbo-charger. Then you change the tires for better grab or traction. Maybe the transmission gets swapped out. Piece by piece you get closer to your vision. But you aren't really re-building the engine, or filling the body with mondo-bondo.

Can't wait to see how this version does when we get it on the track.

I couldn't figure out what in the world you were talking about, but then you saved yourself with the Spoiler at the end.

I'm often (harmlessly) trolling but ALWAYS based on real events.

That soccer story it's true.

Some major teams did these kind of sponsorship contracts and they actually did press conferences presenting the contract and some luxury car models given as a gift to the players... the players pose in front of the cars showing the keys...

Drumming up a few more of my take aways from the presser.

When talking about the Sacto trade, he mentioned in some detail how they had a player targeted and worked the deal over and over to get him - But he did not use Haliburton's name at any point when saying this. He looked awkward and uncomfortable when discussing that. He did heap praise on what he expects Haliburton's impact on the team will be.

He mentioned they have restructured their draft procedure and thought it would make a real difference. Wonder if he was referring to Carlisle having more influence in that area?

He walked right up to the edge of admitting the twin tower approach did not work, but then backed away from the cliff.

Without specifically saying it, he seems enamored with the flexibility their draft capital, and cap space moving forward, now gives them. For the first time, I think if moves are made involving draft picks it will be to move up.

It's very clear that we need to end the summer with a quality young small forward. If we luck into a top 4 pick, the BPA won't be a wing. We could slide or try to trade our other two picks to move up a bit.

Prichard sounded a lot like i have in the last 24 HR. Sounds optimistic and relieved that the train is back on tracks. I'm sure he knows lots of work is still to be done but finding the core pieces in my opinion is toughest. Haliburton and Duarte could be a pretty dynamic duo for years to come.

This is what I've been thinking of as well

They have a hole at 3, and the most straight forward way to plug it is to draft one

But as you said, there are no highly rated SFs in the draft, at least not among the top picks

It makes the draft quite interesting

It's always a good approach to draft the BPA

But what if the BPA is Holmgren? Do they still go ahead and draft him after finally moving on from the twin tower approach?

What if the BPA is Ivey? Do they take him still even though there's already an emerging glut in the backcourt?

Or do they just trade down and pick an SF instead?

This sounds like the most logical thing to do, but man would that be a let down after landing their first top 5 pick in forever

I think this all just means it's going to be a very interesting draft

2022 is a very exciting year to be a Pacer fan so far

I think he's a pro 4. Think Porzingas.

Ivey could go as high as 2nd. Last week I'd have snapped him up. Today I'd take Holmgren ahead of him.

Interesting. Do you think Pacers would keep Myles, if they drafted one of Smith/Holmgren/Banchero?

Because there's also Jackson who looks like he could take on a starter role

Yes, all those are likely to be 4s

I see

What about Ivey?

What to do with a backcourt of Ivey, Brogdon, Duarte, and Haliburton?

Right, I'd rather draft someone a few inches taller than Ivey but it would be nice to be picking high enough to have that dilemma.

Play Duarte at the 3 and look to move Brogdon for a 4. :dontknow:
