Goga playing great. 6-6 and 3-3 from 3 range with 5 rebounds for 17 points. Finally

Pacers shooting 52% It’s been a somewhat sloppy game from both teams but Pacers lead by 4 at halftime.

Expected a loss because Washington has been a tough opponent for us lately Beal or not.

Pacers defense and lack of organized offensive sets are making it a struggle to win. I get it the coaching staff are evaluating and letting them free lance a bit much.

It’s good for now and hard to watch after that glimpse of hope right after the trades.

Strategic loss. Painful to watch. If these kinds of games help in player evaluation it’s probably worth it. Think of it as an extension 2022-2023 preseason. Nice to see Goga get some run and produce.

Absolutely great showing for Goga finally.
When he’s aggressive and plays stronger he’s so effective.

The inverse is either injured Goga, or slow stand around Goga which we see too often.

It’s really hard to understand if he’s on the verge of finally figuring out the NBA, or if he needs a different team to maximize his potential. Only the Pacers know if they’re going to invest more time in him or not.

I think you've combined three separate things - or maybe it's two. Carlisle didn't like playing through a point center so I agree with the Sabonis point. I think the Turner point is totally about Sabonis and eventually he'll have a clear role. I think Goga is actually lost at times which has nothing to do with Carlisle unless you believe that increased playing time would make him a faster decision maker.

that said, I'm willing to go back to my Tom Moore philosophy of making the system fit the players instead of making the players fit the system. perhaps Carlisle would counter that he knows what system wins in the NBA although this year's results sure don't show that. neither our crunch time offense nor our crunch time defense are producing good results.

It's been a few years since his system produced in the playoffs.

neither our crunch time offense nor our crunch time defense are producing good results.

Carlisle has said he doesn't like to call plays from the bench, and that he really doesn't want to. Yet whether a coach is literally calling plays or not he has a similar influence on the play by who he puts on the floor at any given time.

for those who don't recognize the name, Tom Moore was the Colts offensive coordinator in the Dungy era. he's now in his 80's but is still working as an advisor to Arians in Tampa. He often said his job was to get the 11 best players on the field and employ an offense that allowed each of them to do what they did best.
