I'm sure there are reasons for the signings of Hinton and York, but I can't figure out what those reasons might be. Especially with only two games remaining.

Those two roster spots are already open after the conversion of Taylor and Washington. I assume the Pacers organization wants to reward deserving Mad Ants when the opportunity arises even if it's probably not an amazing payday with only a few games left.

Why wouldn’t you fill out the roster spots? It’s essentially free money and they can play in the final two games, which may be necessary just to meet the league requirement of 8 healthy players any given night. We’ve lost Justin and Sykes, so we’re down two healthy guys.
And, we can sign these guys for this year and next on the 2 way. And 2 ways don’t count against the cap/tax. Add in that these couple be favors to the players and their agents, and may include an mba debut for York.

There’s very little reason NOT TO fill the open roster spots. Other than being overly cheap and saving the prorated 2 way salary for 4 or 5 days.

Not really. A writer and I were talking about the possibility and they got the release a bit before the wire went out, so they passed it along. Our discussions have gotten some clarification questions to front offices through them before, but I definitely don’t have an inside source, as one might imagine.

Just a one year deal, so he’s signed for the next two games. And he can’t even be made restricted in the offseason if we wanted to since he was active for less than 15 days.
