First observations are Nembhard is playing tight defense and is doing well handling the ball. Mathurin shooting well. Taylor and Washington looking the part. Duarte looks good. Jackson is active.

Second observation is Pacers very weak in bigs after Jackson and Taylor. Hornets Kai Jones, Mark Williams, Richards, Thor are dominating our bigs.

I read an interview with Norad earlier this week who said he’s focusing on defense and he wasn’t kidding. Very active hands and closing passing lanes very fast.

It would appear that some of the guys have their own "band of brothers" thing going on. Good to see the camaraderie they are developing.

I have to say Carlisle is doing an eminently commendable job

He's only been here a year but already Pacers went from a team stuck in no man's land to a team with a very exciting future

Finding Duarte and Jackson (and Taylor and Washington) in the draft last year was great

not sure why the coach gets credit for drafts, but he's been good at backing the move to a youth movement.

and don't sleep on Kendall Brown. if he can develop a shot - and he's going to get hours of practice with a shooting coach - he could be a solid rotation wing.

Haliburton said that the rest of the team is enroute to Vegas to be with the team. I thought that was interesting, bc doubt Turner will be there as he's in Tanzania doing charity work, but Hali didn't mention that. Just said half of the team is playing and the other half will be here soon during his interview with espn.

While I applaud Turner for trying to do good work that benefits others, being with an ex-teammate instead of joining the rest of the Pacers is a bit odd. He has all summer to go do good work wherever he would like, but summer league is only for a week or two.

Then again, maybe he had already made a promise to be there and is simply keeping to his word. That would also be a good thing.
