No thread for Mathurin!?

I expected better Indy fans! I've been talking this guy up for about a year now, starting back when he was projected to go mid-late 1st round. He's just a really good all around player and has looked the part both in preseason and against WAS.

What are your thoughts in the (very) early going of his career? Are you as excited about his potential as I am?

I mean, the forum isn’t super busy, so we don’t tend to make a ton of extra threads. Look in the game thread. Check out the other threads like the summer/offseason or training camp threads, or well, any, and you’ll see the fans are excited.

Yeah. Everyone’s excited. He’s good.

How long, can Carlisle keep him, coming of the bench?

Hield has to be traded sooner than later.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about it this year, as he’s definitely getting lead guard minutes no matter what, is finishing games, and is showing himself to lead scoring guard whenever he’s on the court.

To me, I’d like to see Buddy dealt to allow more playing time and better defined roles for Duarte, Nesmith, and Nembhard more so than any impact on Mathurin.

My thoughts exactly. I’d be fine with Nesmith and Duarte starting with Mathurin coming off the bench. I feel like Hield holds the others back.

I believe,
Tyrese and Mathurin are our backcourt of the coming years. They can both be top 10 maybe even better on their individual position. Together that can be a top 5 backcourt.

Duarte is not a small forward, he has less talent than Mathurin, so he will be the back-up.

Except Mathurin and Tyrese no one else on the roster to me is an automatic building block. Maybe some will stay because they fit, but we need a lot more talent before we can even start dreaming of competing for a title.

Tonight's Game Theory podcast on YouTube with Sam Vecente and Coach Spins discusses rookies. They have Benn as the top rookie. Also some Pacer talk.

I think Ben is going to be really good based on what he's shown us so far. I would be looking for a trade for Buddy at some point, maybe something like the LeVert trade. OR maybe LAL decides Westbrick has to go and the give the 2 #1's the Pacers demanded.

Ben Mathurin
Summer League - 58 points in 66 minutes
Preaseason - 81 points in 88 minutes.
First 3 games of the regular season averaging 24 PPG in 28 minutes.

Quite a run.

Pretty amazing, he can't keep that kinda pace up though, nobody can. One can dream though.

Not to worried about the starting thing, he's 2nd in minutes to Hali and finishing games. He'll be starting in the all-star game someday sooner than later.

What do Ramsey, Heinsohn, and Havlicek have in common?

I'd like to see Mathurin develope the ability to defend 1-2-3

I wish Pacers still had Dan Burke
