It's apparently a bruise and not structural damage but we can lose a lot of games in two weeks. It'll be interesting to see the rotation. Will McConnell stay on the second unit or will Nembhard step back? I can see continuing to start Nembhard, Hield, Nesmith, and Turner and bringing someone up from nowhere to keep the second unit intact. Taylor? Johnson? Theis? Johnson started yesterday.

I’d be surprised if Nemhart didn’t slide to the point. Then amp the minutes of Duarte and Mathurin. Good opportunity for Duarte to play his way out of his slump.

I could see Nembhard at the point along with Hield at SG. Front line of Nesmith, Brissett, and Turner.

This leaves the second unit at McConnell, Mathurin, Taylor, Duarte, and Stix.

I can see that. I can also see Johnson starting to leave the second unit intact with Brissett.

if we're conservative with this as we were conservative with Turner last year, will we slide back into the lottery? maybe keep Tyrese on the bench and trade Buddy to tank?

I would imagine we’d never bench Hali, but we might deal Buddy. And instead of ever playing anybody 40 minutes ever in a game, we might focus on making sure that Isaiah and other young guys get in every single game, even if it costs us a couple games, etc.

I didn't mean bench Hali in the sense of having him not play when active. I meant not dress him until he's completely healed and maybe then some.

This, sure. I can agree with this.

This is what I doubt they’d do. They still need to get him reps and develop him even more, and he’s the best tool as a great distributor to help our other young guys grow and develop, too.

There's certainly a difference between bringing someone back when they're healthy and bringing someone back as soon as they're healthy cuz the team needs to win games.

I don't know if you can quantify exactly how many games that is. But. I think we have all probably seen that at work somewhere sometime.

So, Turner and Nesmith are also not available for the Atlanta game?

Broadcast said Myles is unlikely to play this weekend either.

I tell you what Vern without Haliburton the Pacers look like puppy dog doo doo! Lost 5 straight now and heading to the basement.

You could make the case that if he misses anymore than the 2-3 weeks this team will be better off cleaning house of the vets.

You could also make a case for being as conservative with his return as they were last year with Myles

Yeah but that would be a pretty clear cut tank-a-thon at that point.
