Scary incident with Pacers team members after a Memphis game

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Sun Feb 5, 2023 9:25 pm

Wild and scary story after a recent Pacers / Grizz game. :o

Following a game between the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 29 in Memphis, acquaintances of Grizzlies star Ja Morant aggressively confronted members of the Pacers traveling party near the team’s bus in the loading area of FedExForum, and later someone in a slow-moving SUV — which Morant was riding in — trained a red laser on them.

The two members of the traveling party who spoke to The Athletic said that they did not see who shined the laser from the SUV. They also don’t know if the laser was attached to a gun, but they believed it was. A Pacers security guard in the loading area at the time remarked: “That’s 100 percent a gun.”

“We felt we were in grave danger,” one person who was present said. The two sources who spoke to The Athletic requested anonymity because they fear retribution from those who confronted them. They said they considered filing a report with police but decided against it for the same reason.

They should absolutely file a report. Not doing so only encourages repeat behavior of the same crap.

The Athletic article has the most in depth info. The IndyStar article implies that Pack, Morant’s friend that tried to walk onto the court during the game argument and may have had nstigeted the post game argument, has been banned from attending games at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, but doesn’t outright say it.

IndyStar reports the Pacers security detail was who thought the “red laser” was attached to a gun.

So it seems that Ja has a bunch of gang banging scum that he hangs with? One of the best players in the NBA could be brought down by his "associates."

Makes you wonder about all the incidents that happen with Memphis. Recently with Sharpe when they played the Lakers, their history with Golden State, and most recently Dillon Brooks and Donovan Mitchell. Where there's smoke theres fire... makes you wonder.

Could be the JailBlazers 2.0.

Some of these players come from the street and they have a hard time separating from the goons they hung with in Jr HS and HS, only one year of college doesn't give them time to make a better class of friends.

Yeah for sure.

Also, on top of all this off court drama they've got going on, they have also lost 8 of their last 9. The only win is against us of course. :D

Someone on the GB pointed out that Ja comes from a two parent home in the suburbs and both parents have been to college lol.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there hasn’t been a single connection or hint of gang relations here, right? Let’s not take this to a new extreme that there may not be evidence for. Mostly, it seems that a personal friend took a personal offense and attempted to be bigger and tougher, allegedly with pointing a gun. This kind of stuff happens in the suburbs every day in this country.

It does not matter where he "from" kids today think they have to be all hard and gangsta-ass or they not keepin' it real. They'll seek out the goons and drug dealers to pal around with. The worst of the worst is the wanna be gansta because he's gotta be proving his badassness all the time.

I grew up in a bad area of Indianapolis, I went to an IPS high school, I had every oppty to get mixed up in the foolishness, but I didn't I excelled. I graduated 3rd in my class. I trained to be kick boxer and had a few pro fights, I went to IU and got a degree in Economics and I now do high level security work. I've recovered from a major injury and health problem.

Ja Morant has never seen a day of adversity in his life but he wants everyone to think he's a tough guy, notice the eyebrow thing!

I never wanted to be like the people I went to HS with, but then there is the kid who goes to private school with his pants sagging down under his but and his hat on sideways who idolizes some dead rapper for his gangsta rep.

Which does not make it any less wrong. Plus, this is not the only incident involving friends of Morant. One of his friends has been barred from the Memphis arena for the year. Morant recently threatened a guy on twitter with mention of "hollow points". His own reaction to this is to claim it is just people trying to paint him and his "fam" in a bad light. Really? Does that sound like a guy who would try to dissuade his "fam" from more bad behavior?

This is not normal behavior and should not be treated as normal. To pass it off and accept it as normal only gives them incentive for further similar actions. We're talking about thugs who need to be held accountable for their actions.

EDIT: It appears his brother is banned from the arena as well.

Yeah, I never said it’s ok or normal. Nothing of the sort.

I’m just pointing out that we should be careful when using loaded or stereotypical language here. Language can have loaded meaning, and we should be mindful of that. And having been around this forum a VERY long time, I’ve seen discussion has a way of devolving into stuff like that, unless it’s addressed early. Let’s just be mindful and use specific and accurate language, rather than embellishing.

Also, Ja’s friend that is banned for a year is the same as whom he referenced as “his brother”. One and the same.
