Off Topic: Does anyone here think Kuminga is worth a max? or has proven he deserves one?

Sorry,.. for the off topic, but as usual at this time of year,... West Coast sports-rumor-mongers dominating the story lines with Lakers & Warriors speculations, and the debate they are generating over Kuminga's 'value',... and to a lesser extent Moody's lack of it?

Does anyone here think Kuminga is worth or has already proven he deserves a 25% max?...

I'm guessing that any extension he signs could impact the perceived 'value' of any big, defensive wing that the Pacers might consider?

Yes he had a good year last year,... and I don't think he's tapped his potential,... can even see him getting paid as a rotation level starter,.... but, I just don't see the max? not yet anyway?....

But realize that could just be me?.... :banghead:

No. Not yet. I see why his agent would ask for one, but if I’m Gs, this just means we don’t extend him early and let him hit restricted free agency next summer. You don’t have to extend early anyway, and teams usually don’t unless it’s a no brainer, or team friendly deal

I'm with ya. Was reading the comments from a web-post about this,... and was really surprised. There only seemed to be extremes & the W's fans seems dogmatic that either A: 'he isn't worth what he thinks he is & should sign anything offered', or B: 'he is already the second coming of both MJ and Lebron & that it is unacceptable that he isn't already extended at max & considered a hall of famer'?..... (I am paraphrasing & exaggerating a bit,.. but still,...)

Got me thinking that I was missing something or somehow misunderstanding the topic?....

Thanks for the sanity check,... :D  :D

No worries. Think if he played it different,y, he maybe could’ve gotten a Jordan Poole like extension done (20-22% of the salary cap)? But guys want the cache of being called a max salary player and how that affects future contracts down the line too.

I hear ya,... his 'breakout' year, last year,.. he showed that he can be a 16 ppg scorer to go along with his athleticism, and defensive reputation (I say reputation,.. because most of the analysts I trust have said that he's a good defender, but not yet a '+', or elite defender),.. He can do that as a 3rd option, on a team with an all universe player with huge gravity?

What I haven't seen is Kuminga actually impact winning with his own effort? Getting those 'shut them down,.. NOW!' sorta stops?.. or having plays called for him in the final 15 seconds of a 1 point game? or fighting for that last rebound to close out a game where you are up by 1? If Klay did anything, he proved that there was room on the court & in the playbook for another 'max type' player on the floor with Curry. This year Kuminga's gonna have to prove that he is the guy with Klay in Dallas. If he doesn't,.. then I just can't see a max?

No not based on what he's done so far. If he has a big season he can get a big contract from the W's because they don't have much after Curry retires.

I agree that I can’t give him the max this early into his career.
