The season starts in a few days. Let's lay out our predictions - how many wins, who gets all-star / all-nba, stats, trades, playoffs, whatever you want to predict. Then we can revisit after the season and see how we did.

My predictions:

Pacers record: 50-32
Pacers make the Conference Finals again, lose to Boston
Tyrese Halliburton has major bounce back season, all-star starter & makes All-NBA 2nd team
Pascal Siakam makes all-star as a reserve

I'm unusually pessimistic for this time of year. I don't think we make the top 4 and doubt we get to the second round of the playoffs. I think several of our backups will shine but they will split the award votes blocking each other.

I don't think the team will go as far this year. Last season we were lucky to be facing teams with key injuries in every round. Lightning will likely not strike twice.

That's one of the biggest factors for all teams, injuries make a huge difference. The Knicks look good but can they stay healthy? Same for the 76'ers.

The Pacers look pretty good getting Siakam signed was huge I really thought he would go to Philly but seems he likes in here with Tyrese and the corn fields. They have a lot of good looking young players, will Walker develop into the SF with size they need? Furphy looks like a good pick and what happens with Nembhard?

They should be fun to watch if they can stay healthy they should be top 4.

I’m pessimistic this year with a 44-38 record and they make the play in. Hope I’m horribly wrong and they’re better than this and my current feelings.

Reasons for a crappy record are:

Not enough defensive improvement by the team

Conference teams didn’t get weaker.

Pacers didn’t mature or acquire a fourth starter that would make the starting lineup feared still the big 3. Not enough improvement from Nesmith. Hopefully Nembhard breaks out but kinda feels like he won’t be aggressive enough to dominate opponents.

Second unit struggles to hold the lead or extend it which is reverse of last season

Mathurin poor defensively still and offensively inconsistent becomes a trade deadline candidate

Walker finally gets minutes and we see he needs more development time to contribute more.

Addition of Wiseman irrelevant unless I Jax injury

Positives

Furphy and Freeman good future backups.

Sheppard becomes more comfortable and contributes more.

These are predictions and projections of my current feelings. Hopefully most are wrong and the Pacers have a great season.

I highly doubt either of them can.

Bumping this thread as I am closing in on almost nailing these predictions. Hali didn't make All-Star due to the bumpy start, but... everything else looks like I was just about spot on. Taking my victory lap.

See you guys in the Conference Finals!

Congrats I went with the pessimistic view and am so happy the season has turned out much better. I just wish both James Wiseman and Isiah Jax didn’t get hurt, but then they might not have gotten Thomas Bryant.

51 wins is still possible but we better start by beating the Cavs B team tonight. we've had our share of trouble playing teams with injured starters this year. if we do win tonight, the last two games should be B teams against B teams.

2nd team All NBA is a serious possibility….Zach Lowe had him there, I believe.

Looks like 4th in the East and playing the Bucks in the 1st Round. To be at a point where they can win 51 games after the horrid start they had and all the injuries is pretty great. I haven't been able to watch they play this season due to work and my TV service doesn't seem to have them on, but I still follow the stats.

Will Lillard be back to play for them? Will the Pacers be healthy? That's the big questions. IF they are healthy this team could give another run to the Conf finals.
