Well said Ajizzle thats the point i've been trying to get across. Besides, why do we need assists when most of our players are creaters off the dribble or posting up? Plus, a lot of the time I notice Diener doesn't get his assists because it takes one more pass to complete the play he made. Like when Quinn Buckner calls it the "Hockey assist". A lot of the time thats Diener making the play.

I've been a huge fan of Travis since his days at Marquette. I think he has the potential to be a solid NBA starting point guard. He's very smart, fundamentally sound and crafty. He does all the little things such as boxing out even as a guard.

He reminds me of Mark Price, of course not at that level right now though. Diener is going to struggle on defense, but he is crafty and with the proper amount of playing time I think he could emerge as a quality PG for the Pacers or another NBA team.

If we need someone to chuck 3s, we can let Rush do that.

Can someone tell that to Tinsley?

Yea I know Diener doesn't chuck them. If anything Cable is right Tinsley is the worst chucker in the league behind Antoine Walker.

I am by no means a fan-boy for anyone but the Pacers. And part of that was from the whole Diener thing that went last year on these boards... But lets be honest, Travis, while a decent player, is not starting material. Especially on a team that also has MDJ and Murphy in the same starting lineup. That is a TERRIBLE defensive unit, regardless of who else is in there.

I dunno where you've been but Murphy is not starting, and Dunleavy has improved defensively. Also, Tinsley is also a terrible defender, meaning that we don't lose much there. Tinsley also seems to think he is the first option on the floor most of the time, sometimes shooting 35 footers. So yes, Diener seems to be a better starter than Tinsley.

Coach has Tinsley as one of our go to guys, you can't blame him for it.

Tinsley is not a terrible defender, not sure what games you watch. He is a stealing machine for one. I wouldn't say he is a GOOD defender, but at LEAST average.

It wouldn't happen if we would have just signed Jared Jordan. He'd be starting right now, and we'd all be happy.

Yeah right Bibby can't guard him, he is 2X faster and Bibby is known for his bad defense. But it will make for a nice shootoff between the two

Who was Oomph obsessed with? Must have missed that, or maybe it was before my time.

Obsessed was the wrong word for it, I liked his game and perhaps defended him a bit too much on this board. The guy was constantly bashed by some guys over here, and I still think he got an unfair treatment in Indy.

I'm glad that Diener is getting more minutes the last few games, he's got a similar game to Jasikevicius. DIner has better handles but Sarunas was the better passer (and vocal leader, although that role wasn't appreciated by the team and most fans).

I agree about that assessment of Runi. He was a better passer and leader than Diener is currently, but I'd also give him the nod in the shooting department as well.

Diener goes hot and cold, Runi was more steady in my opinion.
