SI- Pacers interested in Miller

Post#1 » by Grang33r » Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:15 pm

The Grizzlies are fielding numerous offers for shooting guard Mike Miller. One possibility would be to send him to Indiana for power forward Ike Diogu and guard Marquis Daniels, which has been discussed in the last week. Word around the league is that point guard Kyle Lowry and others in Memphis could also be available.

Larry Bird would be a genius if he lands Miller AND Lowry. lol I know, won't happen.

I would do this deal. Miller is a shooter and is like another Dunleavy a great rebounder.

Tinsley/Diener
Miller/Williams
Granger/Graham
Dunleavy/Foster
Oneal/Harrison

NOt bad, add to that our good draft pick and we will have a good team next year. If we could get Lowry that would be awesome.

Mike Miller could definetly shine with JOB. He could become a big time scorer, 20ppg + with our team. It'd ruin our draft status because i do think having Miller would make us a playoff team in the east, sadly though, not a top 6 team, so our playoff stay would be short lived.

I like the fact that we're busy. I would like to see another deal. Tinsley can not be here any longer.

I'd like Miller, only because I'm a sucker for a shooter. I have no problem parting with Ike and Marquis - because Diogu isn't going to be the player we all hoped we would be when he arrived 13 months ago.

Memphis is looking to save money, so let's give them a good cost-saving deal and pull the trigger.

Maybe I am the only one who is less than thrilled with this? I would rather the Pacers go for a point guard, or at least cut salary if they are active. I do like Miller as a player, but acquiring him would probably cut down on Williams minutes. Also, Miller is not young either.

If we did acquire Miller would we try to parlay that into something else? I know there are a lot of teams out west like Denver and Dallas that covet his skills. Our wing players are the strength of this team. Mike is a nice player, but he isn't exactly improving our team by helping fill a void.

Giving up Marquis and Diogu (I really like Ike, but if he isn't going to play why let him rot on the bench?) isn't a big issue. I just wish that by trading these players we would get help at PG or C.

Lowry would be the point guard, but I agree that he's nothing special...but could do better than Owens and Diener.

Dude, getting Lowry is just crazy. I don't think he's part of the deal. That would be highway robbery.

If he was a part of the deal, he's our new starting PG. End of story.

This could help us next year if we keep Oneal and he is healthy. We would have shooters everywhere from Miller to Dunleavy to Granger. Tinsley would have career nights in assists all the time. A good Center in the draft is all we need then.

The Grizzles do have a wealth of point guards, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Also, are you forgetting the deal the Lakers made with the Grizzles for Pau?

I know Lowry put up some big preseason numbers, but when I've watched him play against nba competition he's looked very poor. he has PG size, but no PG skills.

His game consists of "drive and not dish". He has no shot. He has no pass. He would be a disaster as a full time pg.

Thanks for the insight floppy, the denial of League Pass hasn't allowed me to see Memphis this season aside from a game against the Knicks.

With that said, is it possible he's worse than Diener and/or Owens?

I went back and looked at Lowry's profile on draft express.

Um...check out the "best case" comparison.

Haha, for those of you who are lazy...DE listed Lowry as "best case" Jamaal Tinsley.

Worst Case: Marcus Banks...

I do like Lowry though, but at this point every PG looks good to me. I feel like we all have some weird form of scouting "beer goggles" for PGs.
