Why would we do both? Granger/Dunleavy/Carter/Miller/Williams/Rush/Graham is a little much, don'tcha think?

Can't have too many shooters I guess. The JO deal cuts some payroll too so that move at least has some financial motivation. We'd certainly be an interesting team after these moves in that we could beat anybody on a given night if our shots were falling. Long term I don't think this is a contending team, but I think VC and Miller would be pieces that were easier to move later making them good stepping stones between the JO era and whatever our future may be.

no granger would be pf carter sg, miller sf, dun is the sixth man, with rtush and williams off bench as well.

graham can be cut.

but heres what i would like to happen

Indiana Rcieves: Vince, magloire, Sean Williams, Miller
Memphis Recieves:Marquis, Ike, Harrison, Armstrong
New JErsey Recieves: JO, Graham, Lowry

then new lineup is

tins/diener/owens
Carter/Shawne williams/rush
Miller/Dunleavey
Granger/Sean Williams
Foster/Murphy/magloire

that would give us a good running team, bring fans to seats

EDIT: this is not a contending team but rather a competititve team, Vince would not be our franchise player, as Granger is, and so is Shawne williams. this would make our team eaiser to deal because all the contracts are not bad with the exception of Murphy, and tinsley but their deal becomes more and more appealing each season that passes

I would assume that we would play Williams at PF if we made that trade, and I don't think Graham really counts at all. That leaves Carter and Rush (maybe Dunleavy) at SG and Granger and Miller (maybe Dunleavy) at SF with Williams probably getting some minutes there still. It would give us a really small lineup, but we would be better in the run 'n gun with 5 or 6 good players at the SG/SF. The only problem I see is that the best picks this year are at the guards. I certainly wouldn't be upset with Love or Hibbert, though.

no granger would play pf, because he is better adapted to that as he is more muscular then williams, not to mention williams is way better shooter.

granger would be our pf,

also i am counting on owens not being resigned, and us trading tinsley and using our pick to DRAFT ERIC GORDON   :D

JO for Carter a secondary issue. I am not for or against it right now.

I really don't want Carter on the books until 2011. When will management learn this team needs completely rebuilt?

You say it like they can snap their fingers and trade Murphy and Tinsley.

I never said anything about Murphy and Tinsley? What is the point in acquiring a guy who will continue this teams dive towards mediocrity for the next four years instead of the next two? Unless you think you can build this team around Carter and you aren't that far from being a contender why do it?

No, I agree with you man, I'm against the Carter trade. I guess I was looking at your statement in the bigger picture.

No, I mean don't get me wrong I would love to get rid of both Tinsley and Murph for different reasons. I realize that is just a huge pipe dream though.

NBA Coast to Coast said neither NJ or Memphis are really not looking to move Carter or Miller so 2 sides to the stories.

I keep reading and hearing that NJ REALLY wants to trade Carter. I like us being involved in a three-way deal where JO goes to the Nets, Carter goes somewhere else (such as New York, Miami, Orlando), and we get expiring contracts/picks in return.

Just so that we don't have to keep on referencing the validity of Hoopshype.....Chris Sheridan with ESPN pretty much says the same thing.....the Nets appear to be interested in moving VC....as to where....that's the quesiton.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=Nets-080219

It essentially says the same thing that the Hoopshype article was saying....except that there are "multiple sources" saying that talks between the Pacers and Nets weren't dead....but "dormant". Realistically....given all the cr@p that the Nets had to go through thanks to Devean George....it's not really surprising that any possible VC rumors going "anywhere" have been put on hold.

If anything......it at least confirms that there is some validity to these VC for JONeal rumors.

I can see the Grizzlies moving Miller before the trade deadline for expiring Contracts. For some reason, they want to cut as much salary as quickly as possible.

Since trading a player for Expiring Contracts before the trade deadline would affect the salary cap for the next season...there's a huge difference between moving players before the trade deadline and moving them in the offseason.

As for VC....unless the Nets are concerned about VCs happiness and want to move him before he does or says something stupid....I don't see what the rush is for moving him now as oppposed to the offseason.

i honestly think that this brings us no stop further. just another step in nomandsland.

I want a direction. If we trade for MM we need to keep JO and let him get healthy get a high draft pick and try again. Or we rebuild. Then the Jo for carter deal is okay if we get sean williams back.
