USA Today: Daniels Is Not Suspect in Rape at his house

Post#1 » by APerna » Tue Feb 26, 2008 1:40 am

Apparently a woman was raped at his house on Sunday night, but he wasn't directly involved...house party?

Report: Daniels Is Not Suspect In Rape

I edited the thread title to a little more accurately reflect the situation at hand and to lend some sensitivity to all parties involved, including the violated. - Scoot McGroot

Again - no charges at all against Daniels - but you'd think he'd be trying to live a slightly less wild lifestyle at this point.

Maybe Larry should sign a group of monks...

Yeah, honestly. Can he just not stay out of the news? Time to get rid of him. We've had enough problems with players wanting to flirt with the law. Enough is enough. We got rid of the problems in years past, let's do it again. Obviously nothing can be done until the off season, but Bird is already down on him apparently.

I thought we should get rid of Daniels even before this news, obviously. I don't think his knee is ever going to be 100-percent again, unless he sits out an entire year or something. He's not nearly the player he was in Dallas.

Well, hopefully the victim can come through this as well as possible.

As to the very, very secondary concern of Marquis Daniels and the Pacers, I can only hope that not only were they not involved directly, but also that Marquis was not indirectly responsible trough either action or inaction. It was, after all, his home.

In any case, I'm sure we'll hear more over the coming days.
I have no idea what you're talking about, and clearly, neither do you.

Well put....ashamed that I didn't identify that as the case in the initial posting.

Indeed. I'm just extremely tired of turning on the news and hearing the pacers in it involving something other than boxscores.

Your right though, hopefully the victim pulls through. It's never an easy thing to rid a mind of things like that.

Geeze, another Pacer puts themselves in a bad position. If some of these guys put as much time in on the court as they did off the court we may be on to something.

No, the only players left on the roster who have caused problems are JO, Tinsley, and Quisy. JO seems done with all that, Tinsley has been quiet, but Quisy just keeps it coming. I think the rest of the team is finally learning how much its killing us.

We arent in the news if it isnt negative. I am not saying every single person on the roster is a problem. On our roster now, Daniels and Tinsley are the only problem guys. Well, Travis Diener too. You can tell he is snorting coke off of hookers before games...lol.

So Tinsley gets shot at and people hate him, now Daniels isn't involved in rape and people hate him? I understand they shouldn't put themselves in certain situations, but who are we to say Tinsley can't go out and try to have a good time or that Daniels can't throw a party? Can they have no social life? Neither of them did anything wrong aside from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Again, I realize they need to be more careful but none of it has been their faults.

It doesn't matter if it's their fault or not. Little kids look up to these guys and they go out and do things that most would consider risky in the first place. Throwing a party where people get trashed enough to have something like that happen in YOUR house isn't good. Being shot at wasn't exactly Tinsley's fault, but I'm sure he could've done somethign to stop it from happening. He could have avoided going to the bar in the first place.

Btw, my mistake, I was thinking JO was involved with the first bar run in with Jackson and Tinsley.

Yeah, but look at it like this: Every single player in the NBA goes out and parties, yet you hear about very few of them getting involved in situations like this. They both have had multiple missteps (and I am not in any way saying Daniels did anything wrong here), and eventually you have to ask why they put themselves in these positions. Yeah, maybe Marquis didnt rape the girl, but it was an event at his house and presumably, his friend (probably more of an accquantance) that did it...I mean, why associate with these types of people?

How come these things don't happen with players on other teams?

I'm sure they do happen, just the pacers are targeted a little more with their history. Who knows though.

It's a shame....I see both sides. Both sides make sense. Its all unfortunate. I think 2 things come from this:

1) Another reason to blow up the team. Just clear the roster, new guys, new faces, new mixes, new atmosphere.

2) Speaking of a new atmosphere...Get a disciplinarian back. Carslile-esque. Haha, why not bring in Bobby Knight as an assitant lol. Idk who exactly, but a different coach. Not a player's coach.

Trade Marquis, I love him, but even Bird doesn't want him, and he hasn't been consistent at all...
Rest in Peace, Pacerfan
Will eat crow if Brandon Rush turns out good.
