Home Run!!!

Since I am out of the lurking closet, I thought I might see if anyone else is bothered by the house announcer at Conceso (his name escapses my memory at this time) as much as I am. Everytime a player hits a three, all he can manage to say is their name followed by "HOME RUN!!" Now I am not opposed to the use of the phrase once in awhile (especially if it is a long three - something atleast similar to a home run), but this isn't a baseball game!
Is there anyway way to contact the team/announcer and get some more originality/individuality for each player going.
Perhaps this is similar to the nickname thread and will get merged, but here are my and aquantances ideas (which we yell when we attend the games). I would love to hear if anyone else has any new ones we can add to our arsenal:

Dun-THREE-Vey!

Someone ring the Bell, Its Deiner time!

Danger! Granger! (al la Busta Rhymes-Danger Danger)

It's Rush Hour!

Also not related to making a threes:

Foster, Austrailian for Rebound! (in our best Aussie accent of course)

Reb Porter? I love him. To me, he's just a lovable, over-energetic fan that amuses me. Much like Officer McCarthey at ND home games.

The only way I can follow the Pacers here in Missouri is via the radio broadcasts on NBA Audio Pass. Slick Leonard screamin "BOOM BABY!!!" never gets old. At Conseco they should just plug in the Slick soundbite every time one of our guys hits a three.

I don't dislike him, I just wish he would say more than "HOME RUN!" when a player hits a three. Even "Granger for three" would be a fine change of pace.

I like Reb's enthusiasm for the team. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys what he's doing. I agree though we need something more than "Home Run!". I guess at this point he might feel like it's his tag-line though, similar to Slick's "BOOM BABY!". Even if Reb never does change it up, we can still just use our own catch phrases and have everyone around us in awe at our remarkable wit and intellectual prowess:)

I don't mind it at all. I think he does a good job and is pretty fun loving. He isn't annoying like Detroits guy thank god.

I've heard it more than a few times and it still makes me laugh.

I personally can't stand house announcers who do stuff like "HOME RUN". The worst is when a house announcer tries to lead a chant. Chants should come spontaneously from the audience.

The Mavs house announcer is a terrible offender at that kind of thing.

Yeah that home run thing baffles me. We dont have a pro baseball team in Indy, and we dont have a particularly rich baseball heritage. I just dont understand it. I bring that up every time I go to a game. I wish he would come up with something different.

Eh, Indy has had a decent to rich baseball heritage, moreso than many professional cities. We had a team in the American Association for many, many years, had a Negro League team or two, and the Indians have been in Indy for a long, long time. We've seen a lot of major leaguers make stops here in Indy. Granted, we don't have anywhere near the history the Yankees do, or the Cardinals or Cubs, or any of the major teams. But I'd say we have a pretty decent baseball tradition in Indy.

Say, wasn't your Negro League team called the "Clowns"?

Now THERE's a catchy name for a pro team.

Yes, I'm just here to cause trouble.

Yup. Did Hank Aaron play for the Cardinals? I don't think so.....

Besides, the better St. Louis team is in Baltimore now.....

There needs to be a Cardinals-Orioles World Series one of these years so that traitorous act of 1953 can be properly avenged.

Actually, the Indianapolis Indians are a professional baseball team. But that is besides the point. While I don't mind home run at all, I agree we need a variety. Something to do with racing would work nice, although I can't think of one right now.

They're not "professional". They're a minor-league team. Yes, the players get paid, so they're not amateurs, but the only classifications are "Major", "Minor", and the different classifications of "amateur".

Minor league is professional baseball.

Yes and no. They're paid. However, it's not "major". Look into the baseball leagues that sprouted up in the early 1900's like the Players Association. There were ten's of leagues, and a league had to proclaim itself "major". At one point, the American Association was a "Major League". However, it then fell apart and was re-organized as a "Minor League".

I'm sorry, I'm looking at what you actually said and I have no idea why I went on that tangent. I think I read your original statement wrong.

My bad b_g7.
