Ive always been impressed with Walsh as he assembled the perfectly balanced team in that 90s team you all had as well as impressive moves like the Jermaine trade, the Artest/Miller trade, etc.

I was also impressed by the way you all stayed in the playoffs even during rebuilds. Its only been recently that things have gone so pear-shapped for you all and I attributed that to Bird mostly. Well, and that little present Artest game you in Det. And injuries of course but thats just part of the game.


Anyway Id love to hear what you guys have to say about Walsh beyond the obvious - the classy and experienced adjectives.


Whats he like in dealing with press? How've you found his recent transactions? Do you attribute recent mismoves to him or Bird? How have you found his drafting ability, his FA signings, his trades?

What would you expect from him if you were NY fans? How would you anticipate him tackling the mess we have? Massive firesale? Acquisition of picks? Improvement form within via patient resolve?

That is most definitely what I would expect, at least from past history from Donnie. He'll wait out contracts. He'll refuse to buy people out. He won't make a deal unless he feels it will not only improve you now, but also into the future. He'll overspend a bit and pay out early to keep the young talent you have. He'll tend to gravitate towards cagey veterans, especially in trades. He'll probably be the patience that you guys would need. The "Anti-Isiah" if you will



However, you might be rushing the gun. The Indy Star is reporting that the Pacers and Donnie are denying any deal has taken place.....yet. Most likely to protect against any tampering claims. Boy, it sure would be nice to get that 1st round pick of yours though due to tampering .....I kid, I kid.

Good points on the patience of Walsh. Sometimes the best moves are the ones not made. Donnie is an extremely patient guy and understands chemisty and intrinsic values that are necessary for a team to be great. As scoot said, he will evaulate potential action from both the perspectives of today and tomorrow. Walsh is excellent and will help resurrect the Knicks and rid them of bad contracts IMO.
