Diener undergoes Big Toe surgery

Pretty odd for a "common offseason surgery", but at least he's getting it taken care of early.

I'll be honest. I was a bit surprised how much I like him as a backup PG option for the Pacers. If we could get a veteran PG or a more talented rookie in here to start ahead of him, I think we'd have a pretty effective/useful PG rotation.

Get well soon Travis!

I agree, it would be nice to see us get a starter that compliments him because I think that would make for a really nice PG tandem. Hopefully, he has a full and speedy recovery.

He's coming back 100% right? I saw the headline and was more scared than when Bynum went down. It was Magic getting AIDS all over again.

Travis is just replacing his godlike toe with a mortal one. Wanted to give teams a chance at his 'Achilles' heel'.

I wondered how Kobe could have possibly beat out Travis for MVP. Now I know.

I think it's Magic fans trying to be funny.

I am willing to tolerate their posts in exchange for their team beating Detroit three more times.

Magic fans had a God-like adoration for Travis and used him as the punch line of jokes on their board. They're just trying to carry it over here. It was born there, died there, and should stay there.

I'm a big fan of his. I'm actually disappointed that he hasn't played better.

LOL i don't know if we're doing awards for the forum or not but if so i nominate this as the quote of the year. The Diener fiasco from the off-season was such a headache and i couldn't agree more with this statement!!! LOL

Mike Wells wrote:It didn't take long for me to realize I forgot to mention Travis Diener's name in the list of players coach Jim O'Brien believes is part of the team's core group.

There was a red flashing light on my cell phone letting me know I had a voicemail when I woke up Thursday.

I guess I was so caught up in O'Brien, who doesn't hold back in voicing his opinion, questioning Jamaal Tinsley's dependability that I forgot to mention Diener, who had a 4.6-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio last season. That's a heck of a stat for a player that spent his first two NBA seasons planted on the bench in the Orlando.

Mike Wells is the beat writer for the Indianapolis Star for the Pacers. He claims that Diener is thought of as a core member for the Pacers for the future.

well my comment was 100 percent serious, whether you support Doogism or not...
All Magic fans (besides many puerto ricans) wanted Diener to play over Carlos "scrub" Arroyo.

p.s. being a diehard Colts fan I allow myself to feel almost welcome in your forum. Thank you

Oh, that's fine. Diener is a fine player. He's simply a great role player, and not the greatest player to ever live. That constant joke is fine, and worked out well on the Magic forum. It doesn't translate over here. We have had our own jokes that wouldn't ever, nor should they ever, translate to other forums.

We just ask for a little realism here. But seriously, all are welcome here.
