Diamonds in the rough.
Would like to hear anybodies ideas on possible diamonds in the rough for draft or post draft camps.
Some that come to mind are Jason Richards, Jamar Butler and Mike Green.

The one player i like, who i believe shock is rising, is John Riek. The guy is 18 years old and from Africa so he can enter the draft. He's stright out of High School. He's like 7'1 and incredible amount of power and stregeth. He's a raw talent and needs to be developed into NBA tools, but in todays age of NBA D-League i think in the 2nd round it's a nice investment. At worse case senerio i think he'll be a DeSagana Diop, but has potential to be much much more.

Now I'm not suggesting any of these guys will be stars but some guys that I like to have solid careers projected 25-60:
Courtney Lee
DJ White
Lester Hudson
Richard Hendrix
Shan Foster
DeVon Hardin

I think they can only be compared in the fact that they're both a little undersized for the PF spot, but DJ's a legitimate 6-9, while Diogu's probably an inch or two shorter. DJ's much more useful and is pretty darned good defensively. However, Diogu's the more polished offensive guy. DJ's best around the hoop.
I could see DJ White having a Jeff Foster type career, with his defense, hustle, and intensity keeping him in the league. He's got a nice soft touch around the hoop though, and that will make him more valuable.

I don't know, it's awfully hard for me to tell on tv and in person. I'm only 6'2", so anything more than 3 inches or so taller than me is just tall. TV's awfully hard to judge on as well as none of the guys are listed at their real height and there are so many factors that go into telling how tall guys are.
I'm pretty confident that the pre-draft camp was pretty close and measured him from 6-8.5 to 6-9.5, and guys only play in shoes, so I'll take the 6-9 as pretty close.

I'm only 5'10, but stood next to him and quite a few other basketball players and he just doesnt seem like he is 6'9 to me. It is hard to judge people down to the inch when you are nearly a foot shorter than them, so I'll defer to you on this one with this pre-draft measurements. I didnt think they had happened yet.

I don't understand this comparison at all. They're both undersized, both have longer arms that help make up for height, and because of those two factors both have a high release point on jumpers but...
Ike is a undersized 4 who is a poor defender, can't pass but has great hands and nice offensive post moves.
DJ is a very good defender and shot-blocker, solid passer but most of his offense comes from jumpers or overpowering undersized college athletes. DJ to me is similar to Malik Rose.

Reggie Williams, Jamar Butler are the people I'd like us to target.
Rest in Peace, Pacerfan

Yeah, it's tough when they're that much taller than you, but I got a photo with him and my brother (I'm 6'2" and my brother is 6'6") and he still had more than a few inches on my brother.

I'll go with it then.
I posted this on the DJ White thread on the draft board, but ill spitball the idea here too: Does anyone think DJ will rise on draft night? It seems that everyone and their brother thinks he will be among those who outproduces his draft position, and with the production of the Millsaps and Landrys in recent years being so good, does anyone see him sneaking in the low-mid 20s?
